Omega 2.5.76 Advanced 3D settings problem

Ok, I posted about my issue in the sticky 2.5.76 thread but perhaps a new thread is a better way to do this.

My problem is, that any of the advanced 3d settings, like AA, don't work at all. It's NOT the same issue than some users had where the advanced settings were not visible in the Radlinker menu. I have those settings available, and I have set for example 4x AA for both DX and OGL modes. But when I launch any game, DX or OGL, these settings do not work. No AA at all.

I looked at the updated Radlinker guide and made Radlinks from my game shortcuts, in DX games properties i checked the Mode Change box but it still does nopt help in any DX game, and there's no Mode Change checkbox for OGL mode.

I've tried running the DH Driver Cleaner and reinstalling the drivers, but that does not help either. Also tried reinstalling only Radlinker and the "Retest All" option in Advanced SmartGart Options.

I've used many Omega versions before and never had a problem like this.

I had some minor GUI issues with it but overall it was working. By any chance do you use Style XP or WindowBlinds?

I have the hacked uxtheme.dll and a custom .msstyle theme from deviantART.
I don't have any of those actual theme programs though.

I'm having the same issue down to the letter, and I'm using the Longhorn Transformation Pack, which uses a hacked uxtheme.dll.

If at all possible (I don't use the hacked .DLL or StyleXP so I don't know exactly) try disabling and unloading that .DLL if you use a piece of software like StyleXP to load it. Another thing you can try (if you are using JUST the DLL and no software) is stop the Themes service temporarily from the administrative tools\services control program in the control panel. Stop the themes service and then try again as it may be an issue with the theme and the control panel butting heads (a GUI issue).

Ok I disabled the theme service, didn't help so I restored the original uxtheme.dll, but it didn't help either.

I'm glad that it looks like that .dll did not cause this, because now I don't have to give up using custom themes. Btw, all those theme programs like Style XP SUCK

I got the same problem and I've never had a problem before with AA/AF . It doesn't work when I create a radlink either.

I found out that the settings don't apply when I'm using the special CS OpenGL driver (I've always used this driver too).

Hmm interesting. I wonder what the issue is.

I use WindowBlinds and saw a very minor GUI issue with the new Advanced 3D tab in the Omega drivers but nothing major at all.

What card does everyone have? Perhaps it's related to just certain cards.

Well, there goes that idea. Still, someone grab Omega's attention, this looks to be some sort of common flaw.

Are any of you using a Special OpenGL driver?

I haven't even tried using OpenGL, almost all of my games are D3D. That said, no, I'm using the standard OpenGL driver.

No, just the standard one... I could give the special OGL driver a go tomorrow when I'm back home. But I doubt it will work..

Registered just for this thread. :P

I am having the same problem. Been using the Omega drivers for some time now, at least 4-5 sets. Up until the 4.9 version, vsync worked flawlessly with the hl ogl driver. After installing, I could not get vsync to work in either ogl or directx. I tried both ogl drivers with the same results: image tearing (no vsync). I don't use AA/AF that much, so I can't report on those.

Just to be sure, I uninstalled the set and followed the Driver Cleaner guide to reinstall. The version that came with the drivers wouldn't run (I forget the error message), so I downloaded v3.3 from this site. I uninstalled, rebooted into safe mode, canceled the auto-detection, uninstalled the hardware, ran driver cleaner, rebooted, and installed the drivers as normal. I followed this procedure to reinstall the 4.9 version, 4.8, 4.7, and finally the official catalyst 4.9. My vsync had been running perfectly before this release, and even reverting back to the previous omega versions didn't bring it back. It was still broken.

I used to enable it by setting it to application preference, but now I have to set it to forced on to get it to work with half-life. This is with the official drivers, mind you.

Not sure what the problem is, just wanting to contribute a bug report I guess. Thanks for all the hard work, Omega.

Yeah, I tried uninstalling/reinstalling many times and I could never get any of the OpenGL settings to apply with the Special OpenGL file. I then thought to put one of my back up special OpenGL drivers from a previous set that already had the settings on and it worked (I assumed it would).

Hmm, these drivers worked fine for me- actually they worked perfectly.. On to the Beta 8.07 now though..

Oh, also I couldn't get the CCC to work "properly" no matter what- even after putting all my services to default.

I gave up finding a solution and went back to 2.5.58. I play online almost every night so I like to have my drivers working properly.

One important question for those of you having problems, Did had CCC installed sometime before installing these drievrs?
If you do, then I know what the problem is.
CCC changed the way AA, AF and VSYNC are applied, so if you have it installed or it was not properly removed vefore installing the drivers, NONE of the settings in the OGL or D3D options will work.
This is already fixed in the next set...

I have not had the CCC for a long time, as I've been using the Omegas for over a year now. I haven't even installed new Cats when they came out, but waited for your version

And I ran Driver Cleaner too when trying to get the new set to work, shoudn't it remove any traces of the CCC too? (I don't know for sure)

Did you even install the Radlinker?

Yes, reinstalled it after installing the 2.5.76. It already installed correctly with the drivers though (the 3D settings were available before reinstall).
