Problems with Radeon 9200 SE PCI card
Hi, I am very new to this forum, but have been having a terrible headache with drivers for my Radeon 9200 SE PCI card. I only play a very few games that require a graphics card, currently being Doom 3 and FFXI. Doom 3 I have not had any problem with, but while playing FFXI I suffer random crashes back to the desktop and random re-boots. These could occur anywhere between 2 minutes of play, or 1 hour. I had originally tried obtaining the latest drivers from ATI, however these caused Play Online (the menu system for FFXI) to have a terribly bad resolution and very slow and jerky response to keyboard and/or mouse commands. Next I went through what felt like a hundred different drivers I could lokate until finally, I had advice from some other online players who suggested Omegadrivers. After installing these, I still suffer the same problems. Both with the random reboots and crashes to the desktop as well as the Play Online being slow and jerky with bad response times and a horribly grainy look.
I am at my wits end at this time. I have just about come to the conclusion that I must either wait for PCI card support to be built into the game or I need some sort of new hardware. Here is as much as I know about this PC (It is my fiance's and I cannot find the original documentation)
AMD Athlon CPU 1800mhz
256mb RAM
80GB harddrive
ATI Radeon 9200 SE card (PCI version) produced by PowerColor
Any help/advice suggested will be appreciated -
