I think this is the first thread

I've ever started here on this board!

Oh well, that's what I get for replying to them for two years and never asking questions myself.

Here is my setup:

Windows XP SP1a
RivaTuner
Reforce
DX9.0b

Athlon Barton 2800
100gb Quantum fireball HDD
Pioneer DVD-ROM
ATi Radeon 9800xt
Abit N-force2 8xAGP board (M/NF7)

When I play UT2004 (1024x768), with 4xAA and 16xAF, I get about 60fps max (vsync=off) unless I look at a single texture, like stare at a wall. I've actually seen it drop to about 30fps when in action with a standard number of bots.

Does this sound right to you guys?

Moved to Radeon Display Drivers

I take it you mean that the fps drops when you stop moving and stare at a wall and then it picks up again when you start moving around.

It could be overdrive slowing the card back down because theres not much going on at the time. Once you start moving around then it OCs itself and the frame rates rise.

I could be way off here though as I dont know that much about overdrive.

Get out 3Dmarks03,

Find all lastest Drivers,

Get Cats, Omega, and some other versions of display drivers.

Do a day of testing and make sure your computer is really working at high speed

Turn off Overdrive. Maybe test overclocking and get extra 15mhz out of your card with stock cooling and just run it like that.

Umnn... I never said I use the overdrive function. Because, in fact, I don't. But those were nice suggestions.
