exclamation my games are in a world of hurt

hi there,

i've got some older games that work fine, but recently some new games i have like hitman contracts, manhunt and any new demos i download dont work. i can play for around 5-10mins before it hits the fan.
the screen goes black and then turns into a bad acid trip, flashing colours, lines, rectangles and other wierd stuff happens to the screen, i cant tell what the hells going on.
if downloaded many drivers ati, omega, even rolled back loads of drivers they all have the same problem with the new games.

i got a radeon 9700, not sure if its a pro version or not.
i got directX 9.0b as well

not sure what else info you need to figure this one out, i contacted ati around 3 weeks ago, but anit heard much from them.

picture below of how it looks like, but its always changing shape and colour

definitely check your Video cards FAN....when was the last time you did a full system cleanup... both hardware and software..... you should take a can of compressed air to you system every 6 months MINIMUM.... you'd be surpise what likes to build nests in computers....

ok this time i re read your message properly lol whent to fast last time im shure about 97% that your memory on your graphics card is damaged. or realy badly heating up and artifacting the other 3% could possibly be the fan on the card is running slow. and overheating again. but im only 3% shure its the fan becuse it does not look like a core ishure more a memory ishue if it was a fan ishue both core and memory would overheat togerther.

some more info

i made a mistake NOT 9700 series its a 9600!

image problem, yahoos screwed me, any1 know anywhere free upload some pics?
i've got a see through side pannel so i can see all the stuff in my comp, i havn't got any compressed gas nor know where to get some nut i can run around it with a small hoover piece.
i got 4 case fans running in there, and heres some temps you asked for: -

cpu - 49 C
motherboard - 37 c

+12v = 12.288
+5v = 4.811
+3.3v = 3.28
vcore = 1.872 these are fluxing by a little bit

also some1 asked for system specs: -

amd 2200 or somethin like that it's running 1.6gig unclocked
Ram = 512 ddr 266mhz
psu - 400 watt
not sure what other specs u may want.

p.s. reformatted 2 weeks ago still getting the same problem, and nothing in pc is overclocked.

Hello there! Is it a palomino core on that 2200? (I think its a xp1900/2000+ though because of the low MHz) Well the vcore seems a little too high, even if you got a palomino, try to nudge the vcore down a bit! It should be 1.75Vcore!?
If it´s a thoroughbread then you should go down to 1.65Vcore.
Edit: Also try to set fast writes to on or off to see if that helps!

Unless those are full load temps your system is running hot. Make sure the rear/top fans blow out of the case and the rest, (front/side) blow into the case.

i got compressed gas to blow out and clean all the dust out of the pc,
put another fan in, there all facing the right way.

fixed texture problem but know it restarts itself after playing a game for awhile

start temps when comp 1st booted up

mobo 33 c
cpu 40 c

after crashing

mobo 36c
cpu 54c

any1 know why ?

Do you run it overclocked? Is the vcore still that high? What memory timings do you have? Fastwrites on/off? VPUrecover?

54c for a 2200 is freaking hot if I recall correctly.

Have you went into your bios or checked for jumpers to lower that vcore down? Just noticed you did not reply to that post, as if the vcore is too high this could be your problem right here. Lowering it will not damage the chip to my knowledge, so it is worth a try. Just remember what it was to start with just in case.

systems not overclocked, vcore setting is set to 1.75, it's as low as it will go in the bios and my cpu is a thourbread (sorry for spelling) i know u said it should be 1.65 but i cant set it that low it dosn't show up on my bios.
fast writes are off and even with them on, i can set it to on in control panel, it says it has to restart to test the settings and comes back with it set off again in control panel, i'll have to look at my ram timings for you.
