omega soft mod

hi all. im new to this forum. I have a Radeon 9800pro and im using the Omega drivers. wen installing i get a soft mod option. its says use only if u have a 9800se. and then it says somthing like 9800se => 9800pro. so i was thinking that any 9800 can use the soft mod. am i correct on that. should i be using the soft mod w/ my 9800pro? another question wat does the soft mod do? thx everyone and thank you Omega corner for creating/mod the drivers.

Welcome to the forum!

As for the softmod, it's purpose is to enable the extra 4 pipelines that are disabled on the 9800SE. The normal 9800 cards already have those pipelines enabled, so a soft mod is not necessary.

On a 9800SE that works properly with the softmod, there will be an increase in performance due to the extra pipelines being available.

Another question that is pertinent

Will this soft-mod work on 9600 series cards as well?
