someone plz help me ! i'm desperate! PLZ
Hi everyone, I have a HUGE problem with my radeon 9600 pro…I’ve been using the very old drivers (3.6 I believe) until a few days ago when I upgraded to the 4.3. The system was fine, running good with no problems…then the second or third day, when i turned my computer on, it booted up and monitor shut down as if in standby mode. ( I read about this and tried a few things to fix it but nothing )….but after a few secs, I hear the system basically shut off and it gives me a blue screen with an error about “ati2drag” and “Physical Memory Dump” and something about stuck in infinity loop…when I get into windows using safe mode, I get a msg that the radeon 9600 drivers were the cause of system instability.
Here is the error signature:
szAppName : Drivers.Display szAppVer : 100241500000021002
szModName : ati2dvag.dll szModVer : 6.14.10.6422 Offset : BB3C06EA
I think I’ve tried everything I can and still get this! (plus the fact that the computer works fine one day on the drivers and next day it gives me the blue screen and after it does that it won’t work again until I reinstall drivers again)
I have also tried the omega drivers with the same thing happening! Also I tried resetting my bios and default settings and nothing seems to work!
Here’s my computer info
Dell Dimension 8100 1.3ghz Pen 4
384 RDram
80 gig western digital HD
turtle beach sound card
radeon 9600 Pro video card
The bios on the system is up 2 date and all my other drivers are up 2 date
Running Windows XP Pro with SP1 and all updates
Please help me out cause I have no idea what to do now
(and yes I followed the guides on here for installing drivers ect!)

hmm but it worked fine with 3.6? have you tired then again to see if you problem goes away?
personally i'd unistall the 4.3's then download and use driver cleaner, reboot install the offical 4.3's again or wait for Omega's release
MAKE SURE FAST WRITES ARE ON!!!
whan do you get these errors? blue screens? any certain game or something? any thing more you can tell us could be helpfull

well try this version, it's from the 4.3' offical's... ati2dvag.dll
put in you c:/windows/system32 folder
(or just install the 4.3's)
just so you know what ati2dvag.dll is the acually windows nt display driver
not dx or openg related i don't think
I'd suspect a compatabilty, power or a themal problem then...
whats your cpu temps?
What psu is in that thing? I know it didn't ship with a 9600 pro it most likely needs a bigger psu weather its the root of your issue or not.....what are your voltage readings?
+/-3.3
+/-5
+/-12
and you core voltage
old boards don't like new cards, pre built/branded systems have added issues
also I think those sysems like shipped with like windows me,
mabe its a the hard ware don't like xp issue?
so many mabe's , so little answers

just downloaded and changed that file and my system actually booted up ! woot ! im using the 4.3 drivers, and hopefully this is gona keep working....cause like i described before, sometimes it works for a day or 2 and then i get the blue screen and stops...but this way instead of reinstalling ill just go into safemode and replace the file again hahaha alot easier then reintalling drivers each time ! lol
another thing is u guys tell me to play with some options right? well now that im in windows and im lookin at the config, should i leave VPU recover on? what about Fast Write? on or off?
let me know guys and thx for takin the time to help me!

Sounds like your Power Supply isnt handling the load anymore and needs to be upgraded
The only place youll be able to get a new Power Supply most likely is Dell or PC Power and Cooling.
Older Dells have proprietary connectors, which means only a power supply that is setup properly will work in their systems. Cant even use a normal power supply to get the system to work *sighs*.
Just to be on the safe side, when you get a new system dont go Dell

You've gotten the drivers to run fine for awhile.
I agree with Crash and Neon, you're likely have a power supply or other hardware problem, search in that area...
Necrosis (I'm pretty sure...) posted a link here a short while back about heftier Dell power supplies.

like i said though, the old drivers (im not sure which version 3.6 or 3.9) worked without a problem! no blue screens no errors! now why would a power supply or any other hardware start having problems after i upgrade to new drivers?
i don;t think the new drivers ask for more electricity or something lol

I understand, of course drivers don't require more electricity...
Point is, it may be you've had the failure somewhere along the way...
If only you could find or remember the driver that worked, but I (and others here) just don't often see the symptoms you're having resulting solely from a driver change...

Is there anyway you can roll back the system restore to when it was working ok. This would let you know what ver of driver you were using and if your PSU has crapped out on you too.

I take it you've tried all the previous drivers you mentioned you were going to try. Any changes?

And that method works for the entire session the computer is booted after the ati2dvag.dll is replaced?

Sounds like a botched install of something, or a Windows problem. Other than a wipe and fresh re-install of Windows then a fresh driver install I don't know what else to suggest at this point max1pc...
Maybe panging could help you with this one...
