well i reinstalled sooooo many times allrdy that im just sick of reinstalling...i just leave my computer on 24/7 hahhaha i guess thats one way to avoid the blue screen lol

i did check the 2 links u gave me and all it said was that people WERE having these problems but no answer other than switching to the very old ati drivers.....then they go on saying how ati sucks and that they won't buy from them again and well im starting to agree ....

my search was pointed to those links but i didn't read it much at all at most of the time.
anyway, try searching your C:\drive and see how many of the "ati2dvag.dll" files and where are they at?

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

easily enough answered

the longer a system runs on a power supply that is underpowering it the weaker the power supply becomes.

it may just be sheer coincidence that it started giving you the issue at the same time which is evidenced by the fact that a rollback to earlier drivers doesnt fix it

nothing has changed in the code of the drivers since the last time you loaded that older set so its not drivers.

and the chances of an ATi card having an issue before is Dell is highly unlikely

find out if you can put a newer better power supply in that machine

you will be glad you did

well i just reverted back to the old drivers because i was sick of the damn hell spawned blue screen! and YES my system is booting up normally now! booted 2 times now without a blue screen! using the 3.6 drivers!!!! and also people THINK its the power supply but if u click on those google links that people gave me and read, it says they replaced their power supply and still get the same thing! im going to email ati about this but its def the last time im getting an ati card! sorry but when i had an nvidia, i never had a problem with drivers...now i update to anything higher than 3.6 and im fucked up the ass!!!

I am having the same problem except that I never see a blue screen. Windows is definitely trapping an error as it is mentioned when I do manage to boot successfully. As with this poster, I can install the 3.7 Omega drivers and everything works. However, as soon as I load anything newer, be it Catalyst or Omega, the system crashes on boot over and over. I am wondering what our systems may have in common. Here are my specs:

Athlon XP 2200+
MSI KT3 Ultra 2
1 GB RAM (Crucial I believe 1x512 and 2x256)
Western Digital 80GB 7200 RPM 8 MB cache
Lite-On DVD Drive
Lite-On 40x12x48 CD-RW
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
Sound Blaster Audigy
3Com 3C905
EVO 802.11b Wireless PCI adapter
Logitech MX700 duo keyboard and mouse
Logitech USB microphone
Dell FP1800 18" LCD

hey bro the reason why ur not getting the blue screen is because in the system options u have it set so that the system restarts after an error...if u turn that off, u should see a blue screen....
when windows is booting up, does ur monitor act like it went into standbymode for a few secs then the pc just restarts right?

ati needs to look into this ! i'm using the 3.6version drivers right now without problems....honestly last time i got an ATI card

Yes. The monitor does go into standby. However, the system does not restart for about 15 or 20 seconds with no hard drive activity. Perhaps that is just the amount of time it takes to generate the error report. I e-mailed ATI about this two or three days ago and have yet to receive a reply. I will change my auto restart option and see if I can catch the BSOD.

yep sounds exactly like my problem.....and ati won;t do shit about it! all they say is use the old drivers! what a bunch of bullshit...i paid over $200 for the card and now i can;t even use the new drivers! WTF!

Max.... i have one idea.... try installing the omegas... latest.... give em a run... see what happens... Also... run a thorough Scan disk on your HD.... i've seen things like this were for some reason... even with NTFS.... windows xp will be running along and for some reason... files will start currupting... odd as it may seem..... BTW... another thing that i noticed is that GATOR/GAIN spyware crap and additionals downloaded off the net that plague the computer can seriously screw up driver installs... ATI could be providing a newer better installer solution with the newer drivers that just arn't working let alone completely successfully.. (even though it may say)...... BTW... it's your choice to move on back to Nvidia.... however..... i do recommend you pay very close attention to your computer parts.... do some research... look for all possible problems... before purchaseing.... And also another thing.... i've seen the EXACT same thing happen on a gefroce 4 ti4600 .... rolling back to older drivers would fix the issues..... PLEASE TRY THE OMEGA's first.... .. lol... btw.. again..... when was the last time you've done a complete defrag... possibly a complete removeall of all partitions on the hardrive... repartition....format... and complete reinstall... AND updates via your computers manufacturers website... they themselves might have a BIOS update for your board that could fix your problem... and even make some recommendation... check into them.... (OEM Computer tend to have issues with generally most of the RETAIL computer parts..... even some of the other brand OEMs.....)....

So how's this for odd.... I ran Ad-Aware and upgraded my power-supply to a 450W. This seemed to work for a day or two. I think what is causing it is something that Ad-aware was removing.

It gets better... I just upgraded my system. I got a new system board, CPU, Hard Drive, and RAM. I reinstalled the OS and everything was going well until I installed the 4.3 Catalyst drivers. SAME PROBLEM!!!!! WTF!!

I am downloading the Omega drivers now. I am really hoping that this can be resolved...

bro i take care of my system...no spy ware, i defrag and scandisk all the time. ect ect..... and no its not a windows corruption because even when I install windows all over, it still happens.... i tried omega drivers before and same shit.....ever since i went back to 3.6 i haven't had a single error....like i said ati needs to get their head out of their ass and check this shit out instead of blaming other hardware/software for their bad coding

Alrighty then.... So I take the ATI board out and slap in my Nvidia Ti4200 and everything is running like a champ. I took the ATI card and installed it in a different machine with the Catalyst 4.3 drivers and it is running there without problem at this point. Looks like I am done with ATI in my main machine!

One interesting difference, the other machine is using the onboard sound and I am using an Audigy board. It could be a link but I am done with that card now. Back to Nvidia for me!

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

.....Creative cards really do have some serious capability issues.. it wouldn't serprise me if the creative card was trying to take controll of the some memory resources that the cat 4.3's are setup to use.... Creative cards are just a pain in the ass to predict...

dude.... think about it... even do a search on Nvidia... do a search on 3DFX.. do a search on PVR..... there is just plain old Incapatible problems that can't be simply fixed via some Driver.....

bro i said I DIDN:T HAVE creative!!!!
and to top it off the incapatible problems is BULLSHIT! why would the old drivers work fine and yet the newer onces have a loop error? and to top this off, if u DO a search on this problem, u will find people replaced everything from motherboards to their fans! nothing worked so its def an error in the new versions of ati drivers!

i wasn't talking about Creative .... i was speaking generally.... And i know of the problems.... i've had the same thing.... i've done the thing of replacing everything... with no go.... but it's just pure incapability with with the assortment of things.... simply moving a PCI card from SLot 2 to slot 3 can cure a huge headache.... sometimes turn off the onboard Firewire... or disabling a simple thing in the bios like wake on lan... or something odd.. will make thing run like a champ..... it's completely odd... but it's just the maze we have to run through sometimes... And like i said.... The difference between the 3.6 and 3.7's could be as simple as a Optimization addition to the package that just kills it.... which would be included in all the sets after 3.7..... you know what... if system might have a thing called CPU COMMAND DECODE speed..... you might be surprised that setting it from fast.. to normal.. might do the trick... setting a bios setting such as spread spectrum... playing with it all... the possilibities are endless what it come to these kind of annoying things... it's not ATI's fault.... it's the deversity of all the different ways we run our machines.... how many different settings we have.. you name it.... not sure how you can call it BS....

well then maybe ati should try to recreate the error and once they get it, they can simple play around until they find what the problem is! THAT is their job
