Perhaps your gpu cooler isn't working correctly. Have you tried installing the last driver that did work normally on your system?

Ati radeon 9700 pro 128 mb,
Amd 2500+
msi Kt4 ultra motherboard
512 mb ram

As far as i know im not overclocking however i have put in the bios at agp time something at 256 i dont now if that is from my 3d card fastwrite is off. And also a thing i dont know is important but my AGP at my control panel at smartgard is off is that correct?

I think that 256 is your agp aperture size. The fastwrites on the smartgart should be off, but the AGP speed should be at 8x or 4x. You could press the retest button and check if it, after a restart, is back on.
But that shouldn't be the cause of your problem, to my knowledge.

Are all cables still connected: extra power cable, monitorcable connected correctly?

System Specs

Unplug your system and remove the battery from your motherboard. Give it 15-30 mins and this will clear your cmos.

The battery normally is round, metal like about 1,5-2cm. Usually you have to press on something and the battery will come right out. You better read your mobo manual. And check how you can clear your cmos.

Take out the battery for a few seconds, then put it back in, and turn on your computer

If that does not work, try updating your Motherboard BIOS from its website.

You are not alone in this, since cat 4.1 came out I've been having trouble with the Radeon 8500DV on start-up (it will get to the sign in) and then I get a loud click from the monitor and then blue, or green bars, it's happend with 4.1, 4.2 and now it's even worse with 4.3, it takes 3 or 4 restarts to get it to come up properly, and it always point to the Ati drivers as the culprit, as soon as I can get it to start right I will edit this post with the error.
It's not heat, not the motherboard bios, not the fastwrites, not agp aperature, not the AGP slot itself, It is the ATI drivers and yes I fill out their trouble report but to no avail. no answer and still broke. Time to go buy another card it's cheaper than waiting for ATI to respond.

Not the monitor, works fine on my system with the AIW 9700 Pro.

I just went to ati.com for another check on there FAQ and found this.
AGP Bus Turbo Mode
AGP Turbo DISABLED
Primary Frame Buffer
VGA Frame Buffer DISABLED
AGP 1X/2X/4X Should be set to match the capabilities of the graphics adapter
AGP Aperture Size
AGP Aperture DEFAULT or 64MB

Maybe this helps i havent tried it because im at school so when i get home ill try, and post the results.

Here is the error it gives when it recovers ATI2dvag.dll, everytime it recovers and decides to come up thats the error received, like I said i've sent the request for support from ati's site, but that never works, well at least not in the last couple of years i've been using ATI products. I've sent this more than a few times, but as you can see in several threads, although the 8500DV is still under warranty support for it is painfully lacking.

No one has any Idea, ATI customer support is no help, asked 6 times over 2 months and still no reply from them. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't work not with driver cleaner anyway.
