ATI Radeon 9800 PRO problem!
recently upgraded my video card driver for my Guillemont Hercules ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB card to the Omega 4.2 catalyst driver w/ the control panel.
Everything seemed to be fine, but I was unable to to set in SMARTGART, the AGP to 8x, or even 4x for that matter. It was set on off, and the fast write was OFF. I put the bar on 8x, and it prompted me to restart the computer which i did. When the computer restarted, it seemed to be working fine, but than the screen clicked, like it reset. I went back into SMARTGART, and it was set on off. I tryed playing around with it, and couldn't get it to work. I re-installed the drivers and the control panel. I than trying installing the ATI 4.2 catalyst driver, and i was unsuccesfull. I ran 3dmark 2001se and got a score around 15000, on the results page, it said AGP was N/A. Im not sure at all how to fix it. COMP SPECS if this helps : *Windows XP Pro *Intel 2.8C GHz *Corsair 512 MB xms pc-3200LL (2 sticks) *Hercules ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB *WD 120GB *ABIT IS7 ** UPDATE ** - On the omega site, it says something pertaining to the Guillemont video card. "HERCULES VIDEO CARDS AND NORMAL ATI DRIVERS DisableOverlayTheaterMode Change it from "0" to "1" in every instance, then exit and restart. They should work now. **** I have tryed that and it did not work either.

I'm pretty sure I do, I'm not 100% sure. I went to the intel.com website and this is what came up under the download section for my specific intel processor.
Intel P4 Downloads It's just an identifier, and thats basically all it did. LOL!..Well, I than went back into my BIOS for my ABIT IS7 mobo and was looking under the video settings that were there. I can't remember the exact name, but i think it said Inet Video or something... it was set on "PCI", i put it on "AGP" - and below that was an AGP setting i could change, 4x or 8x - it was already on 8x, i saved the setting CMOS, and than rebooted. Same problem, I went into properties, settings, advanced, SMARTGART, set it to 8x - restarted computer like it prompted but coming back to it, it was on 0. I don't know what to do ![]() I think i'm going to try using an old ATI driver and see what happens. |
