omega soft mode 9700>9800

i've installed new omega drivers on soft mode 9700>>9800, but what difference is between normal 9700 and soft mod. i can see microchip is 9800 but what more, my clock & ram Mhz are the same as 9700. can i make more then 320/300 - normal.

The major difference for me was Tiger Woods 2004. With the softmod installed, TW 2004 ran perfectly with all settings maxed and AF + AA both at 4. Ran absolutely perfectly. However, the softmod seems to have conflicts with NHL 2004 and Nascar Racing 2003. Without the softmod installed, the Omega drivers didn't crash anything.

The softmod definitely helps.

??? Which driver set?

Hi xdanielx,

The latest Omega's 4.2 does not have the 9700-->9800 Softmod - which one did you install? the 4.1 or 4.2 set?

I know ATI has added some of the 9800 Pro codepath optimizations in the new cat drivers but I would like to softmod my 9700 Pro to 9800 Pro as I could with Omega's 4.1 - I want to run some tests and compare - could someone PM me with a link on how to get the 9700-->9800 softmod - would Rivatuner provide this? I want to see how it runs combined with the latest Omega's...unless someone can point me to some bench showing absolutely no difference with or without the 9700-->9800 softmod...I'm seeing some difference between Omega's 4.1 softmod and Omega's 4.2 - I know it could be due to other factors but if I can run that test then I'll know for sure...

Thanks in advance,

If you install Omega's 4.1 then it should work - mine (9700 Pro) clearly shows up as a 9800 in the Adapter panel...I just selected to apply the softmod when I installed the driver...it is an option...
