9800se softmod --> no checkers, no performance increase

Today I finally received my Hercules AIW 9800se card and I tried to install the softmod drivers from Omega's. The weird thing is that the drivers are actually installed, but there's no speed gain, nor are trashed graphics.

Riva Tuner says I'm running a 9800SE with 8x1 pipelines, so I'd assume everything is installed correctly. It just seems as if I'm using original drivers. There's no noticable speed increase in Max Payne 2, the Processor Occupancy rate in Grand Prix 4 doesn't drop and the outcome of the 3DMark2001 benchmark is the same as with ATI's original 4.10 drivers. There's absolutely no speed increase, but at the same time the graphics are perfectly fine. No checkers or whatsoever.

Who knows how to make the softmod actually *do* something? Does anyone have experience with this problem?

The only cause I could think of is my computer itself. I'm running Windows2000SP4 on an ECS K7S5a with an AMD Athlon XP 1700. Probably the softmod works, but my other hardware are a bottleneck?

System Specs

usally thats a sign of an unmodable card but that card is suposed to be modable from what i've read.... but as it stands there is only one way to do that softmod via the drivers, even without the softmod you should have seen a gain/change useing omega's.... so it it dosn't work with omega's it probubly won't work with anything else becouse the file thats "moded" for the softmod will all be the same....

did you try uninstalling running driver cleaner and rebooting then reistalling the omega's?
