Omega 4.1 drivers crash two of my favorite games, NHL 2004 and Nascar Racing 2003! Tiger Woods 2004 runs perfectly without any lag or stutter... However, NHL 2004 crashes seconds into the game. I am able to get through the front-end but when the game starts, the game just freezes, with corrupted graphics forcing me to restart. NR 2003 crashes at almost the same time INTO THE GAME. I can navigate through the front-end but when i get in the car, the game crashes about 10 seconds into the game. I get the GPU recovery message.

I don't have get crashes with other Omega drivers but Tiger Woods 2004 doesn't run as smoothly.
Ideally, I would like to have TW 2004 run smoothly but still able to play my two other games.

Try using the Regular Cats and see if the problem happens with those as well. May be a catalyst issue and not an Omega issue.

I tried both the Cat 4.1 and DNA 4.1 drivers and did not have a crash with either driver. However, Tiger Woods 2004 stuttered and lagged at 5-10 fps with those two drivers. So, I've gone back to Omega 4.1 drivers because TW 2004 runs perfectly.

Something is crashing NHL 2004 and NR 2003 in the Omega tweaks. Interesting, because it seems the crash is happening at the same TIME in both games. GPU recovering pops up about 10-15 seconds into the game.

Even more interesting is when I don't install the soft-mod 9700 -> 9800 for my ATI 9700 Pro, Tiger Woods 2004 lags and stutters. It appears the sofmod definitely boosted the fps in Tiger Woods.

What kind of crashes are you getting...I'm asuming these are OpenGL based games? I dont have NHL2004 or TW 2004 .... but I have games like NASCAR Thunder 2004 etc... and they all ran fine under the omega enviroment for me but like i said i don't have those 2 games. Does it happen with any of the older sets? (alot of poeople turn of gpu recovery it gives so odd errors on some machines, try turning it off and see if your problem vanishes)

also there is a 3rd driver choice! the Neutral drivers get them here if you'd like to try them NeutralCatalyst4104

Thanks for the reply. Both NHL 2004 and NR 2003 are in D3D. The games work with earlier Omega drivers but Tiger Woods 2004 doesn't run nearly as smoothly. I'm trying to balance SMOOTH Tiger Woods 2004 and WORKING NHL 2004 and NR 2003.

Here is the error message I receive after NHL 2004 locks and reboots...

first off try useing this file...

boot into safe mode...

go into c:\windows\system32\

I'd first first back up your old file rename it or something and try this one...
ati2dvag.dll
see if that fixes you up if not these others you can try... if you can name a set that eveything works well for you we could start from there

Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't work. After moving the .dll file into the System32 directory, when the XP reloaded the graphics were corrupted loading it 4-color mode and 640-480.

Interesting that I don't see that file in the omega drivers set. Were did that file come from?

lol well the is in herant in every set of drivers, it in ati's and omega's driver sets... I have all the files from ati's 3.6's and up on my hdd saved as well as for many other drivers that was the file for the cat 3.9's.... now that we see that didn't work try this one ... replace this one the same way same place...

Unfortunately this didn't help either. It seems the softmod is what is causing the crash. When I install the Omega 4.1 drivers without the softmod, NHL and NR 2003 run fine. No crashes. However, TW 2004 stutters/lags with very low fps. When I install the Omega 4.1 drivers WITH the softmod, NHL and NR 2003 crash but Tiger Woods 2004 runs perfectly.

Odd, because I can play NHL and NR 2003 with the Omega 3.7 softmod drivers!! Why would the softmod for the 3.7 drivers work but not the 4.1s? Even more odd, both NHL and NR 2003 crash with the softmod at the exact same time! Its around 10 seconds into the game... both games. Very odd.

Other games run fine with the softmdo... X2: the threat, Gothic 2, Simcity 4, Call of Duty. These games run great with the 4.1 softmod.
