Radeon 9000 Pro in XP Pro SP1 - TROUBLE!!!

Hi there!

I'm new to this forum and first of all I'd like to say hi to everyone!

Here's the deal...

I have a little problem in one of my PC's, and I guess it's the graphics board...
XP tells me that a delayed write error ocurred. I searched the net, and I found some things related to hard disk. Tried them all, but the message remais... Sometime it tell me, on Graphics boot, that lsass.exe had a problem, and when I press OK, it reboots....

I had many tries, but only one thing worked... Replacing the 9000 pro with a very old Rage Fury Pro...

Anyone has any ideas on what's going on? Deffective board?

I even tried it in another motherboard and still the same problem...

Please help!

Rig:
P IV 2.53
P4P800 Deluxe
SB Live
and so on...

THX!

Welcome to DH SpEeDyGoNzAlEs!

Sounds like you very well could have a bad card but lets check a few things first.
1. Did you do a clean driver install? ie. unistall old drivers and use Drivercleaner as well?
2. Do you have your MB drivers up to date?
3. Are you running the latest version of DX9, DX9b?
4. Have you tried turning Fastwrites off in the BIOS?
5. Have you tried turned down Hardware Acceleration down one notch?
6. When was the last time you did a fresh OS install?

Thanks for the welcome and fast answer

As for what you've asked, here goes:

MB drivers the lateste ones, directx 9.0b, with and without windows updates, with and without SP1...

Last fresh install was yesterday night... But in the last week I've done a few every day, trying and trying and trying...

But there's one thing that catch my eye... Fast Writes! Although it's turned on in BIOS, ATI's control panel says it's off. Even putting it on in control panel, and after the restart, it's always off..

Could this be the problem? Shouldn't it be enabled in windows if it's enabled in BIOS?...

Thanks!

Your welcome man. The reason for the misdetection is due to SmartGart in the ATI drivers. They commmonly do have problems detecting Fastwrites and such. The way to make sure is to turn them off in your BIOS or on even. In doing it this way you can disregard what it says in the control panel. Try it with the Fastwrites off in your BIOS.

Ok, I'll try it out this evening and we'll see if it works or not...

In case it doesn't, can I start to point it as a deffective board?

Well... Fast Writes on and off, different AGP Aperture Sizes, driver install and reinstall, OS reinstalled a few times, and still i have a problem...

Not it's only lsass.exe than says that the end point is invalid...

HEEEEELP

Ok, so... Shall I send the board to RMA or what?

Thanks
