Help plz - cat/Omega 3.7's & Asus nforce2 drivers crashing

I installed the asus drivers for the a7n8x de from the asus website. I then installed catalyst 3.7 driver. My machine locked up in 2d incessantly. got rid of cat 3.7's and switched to Omega 3.7's . same thing.
1. Does my problem come from the order in which the drivers were installed ? What is the right way to do this ? Do I need to delete something from the Asus drivers that conflicts with the Cat / Omega drivers for my 9700 all in wonder vid card?
I have written 0's and reinstalled windows four times now and am getting extremely annoyed and am about to throw this box in the pool.
I could really use some help
background stuff:
Uber 1004 Bios
Have tried several different tricks to get the video card to work right (tips from various forums): upped voltage in BIOs to 1.8v, have changed aperture to 64, have turned off fast writes.
I am stumped. The crashes seem to be video related because when I get a message from windows it is about the video card and I get that nice 4 color 400X600 screen. HELP????
