Default Post Omega and Resolution Attn Cyborg

Hi All
This is my first post on this forum but I am freq on AVS Forum. I am using my PC for HT front projection.
I loaded the new Omega drivers for my 8500 last night and all seems well except for 1 very important thing. I need to run 2 different resolutions which correspond to the sweetspot of my CRT Projector. These resolutions are 1440X960 @ 48Hz and 1280X960 @ 48Hz. Neither of these are in the preloaded res. of the software. With ATIs drivers all I would do is load the RES with powerstrip and they would then be in the video cards resolution pop up menu. With these new drivers I try the same procedure but after re-booting to "see if video card has accepted the new res," there is no change to the menu.
Am I missing something or are theses drivers limited to the resolutions pre-installed?
Thanks
Steve

try using refresh force, which will allow you to specify any custom diplay mode; (resolution and refresh rare). I have used it successsfully and highly recommend it.

Link to reforce:

Hope that helps!

Sublime.
OK I tried refreshforce. It tells me the new res will be applied when changing modes or comp reset. If I do a reboot there is no change to my display or the options presented in the ATI res pulldown.

rats.
I was really hoping that would fix your problem since it worked for me (of course I don't have a projector ) , but it did allow me to choose wierd resolutions and refreshes to match my monitor. However, that was after multiple attempts since I didn't understand exactly what the program was doing. Make sure you've read all of the documentation before you give up hope, and good luck!

Thanks for that. Will try again. Maybe i'll try using refresh with the old drivers to make sure I am using it correctly before trying it on the new drivers

You will destroy your eyes if you try to look at a 48hz monitor for more than like.... 1 minute... (extreme eye strain). You need to run at 75hz or more, man.

He's not using a monitor but a projector.

I'm also trying to get the 1280x960 resolution to work but without any succes . Powerstrip nor reforce did the job. On the 1071 the res was there by default what's up with this prob?

Yea What Peak said. I realize that it is very hard on the eyes when looking at a comp. mon but with the PJ running an 8' wide screen you do not notice it.
The reason for using this ref rate is that it is an even multiple of DVD native ref rate of 24k. 72k works well also but my PJ paints a clearer Pic at 48.

hi energeezer

Well you could try to enter your custom resolutions directly into the registry of the driver for more info look here http://www.dtvmax.com/radeon_guide.htm hopefully that will solve your problem

Best regards MSK

Sorry for this bump but this forum has peaked my curiosity about Pluto drivers. If you ever go to the AVS forum you will realize that most people are not happy with ATI drivers for home theater. It is for this reason I would love to try these drivers.
I stil have the same problem in that I can not get the Plutos to accept 1140X960 @48 or 1280X960 @48 which is my preferred res and ref for DVD movies off my crt projector. I have tried refresh force but could not get any result. Have also tried Powerstrip and same thing.
With the Ati drivers I only had to use powerstrip to set the res once and it would then appear in the 8500's pop up res selector. Using Pluto it asks me to reboot (as normal) to see if card has accepted new res but then nothing is in the pop up menu.
PLS Help or tell me I can not do this with these drivers.
Thanks
Steve
