Cool! Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78 for Win 2k/XP

The new drivers are ready to go:

What's New?

* Based on the official Catalyst 3.7 ATI drivers. (9x/ME/2k/XP)
* Hope to have fixed all the "card not recognized" problems. (9x/ME/2k/XP)
* The 9500->9700 and 9700->9800 hacks are now two separate files, this will fix some incompatibility problems in 9500 cards not liking the 9800 optimizations. (2k/XP)

That's all for now, go here to download them (mirrors available) or just go to our downloads page here in DriverHeaven.

Enjoy!

Thank you, Omegadrive,

I have them installed and testing them now. (Both XP and 98/ME)

EDIT: Well, I still cannot reboot the computer successfully with the VIDEO OUT plugged in. I realize that's ATi's problem and not yours, though. I just wish it would get fixed.

Once again, the latest set I can use successfully is the CAT 3.4...either ATi's or Omega's.

Hey Dyre. Let us know how they are compared to the Omega (3.6 based) in D3D...Aniso and AA applied.

Thanks...

I can't give a good comparison to the 3.6 based as I didn't use those long enough to test them out.

I'm seeing some flickering cursor at the moment as I type this message. That's something new to me. The cursor flickers for a couple seconds and disappears for a second.

I just tried Jedi Academy Demo and it's prone to stuttering in places where I had no notice of any stuttering with the Omege based on CAT 3.4...or even the ATi official 3.4.

EDIT: This is with the new Triple Buffering selected in the OpenGL drivers.

Hmmm...the Omega 3.6 based work good for me. 99% of D3D apps.=1280 x 960...4x AA...6xAF...V-sync...60+ FPS

3.7 doesn't sound good so far...

I'll keep an eye out for other's experiences....

Thanks Dyre...

Okay, here are benchmarks at stock speeds, and over clocked speed with the Cat 3.7's and Omega Drivers based off the cat 3.7's using 3d Mark 03 Pro...

CATALYST 3.7's

4841
Stock Speed (324/310.5)

5107
Overclocked (338.85/341.85)

Omega Drivers based off Cat 3.7's

4844
Stock Speed (324/310.5)

5117
Overclocked (338.85/341.85)

No big difference in bench's but from what I've normally noticed the Omega image quality is superior than with the Cat's and when I used the 3.5 and 3.6 Omegas I personally lost 800-1000 Benchmark points using Omegas as a sacrifice for image quality. So if the image quality hasn't been lowered any, and the drivers manage to squeeze enough performance out to win in FPS and wuality than these are some freaking awesome drivers.

Thnx so much Omega baby :P I wanna start a grphx card company, you wanna be in charge of driver development?

"Call of duty" Demo crashes

Hi!

I've just installed the new 3.7 based Omega drivers (9500 mod version, but I have not overclocked the card), and now "Call of duty" locks up on me 1-10 minutes in the game. This happens with triple buffer both on and off.
I have played the demo through with the official 3.4 Catalyst drivers without a hitch, so my guess is that the problem is driver related.
Can anybody duplicate the error or is it just me?

Everything else I've tried (so far) is working just fine :-)

- My card is a Sapphire 9500Pro

9800SE cannot install the OmegaDriver!!!

I have problem installing the Omega Driver. Once the ATI driver pop up, it show incorrect *.inf etc. and exit the redeon driver installation. Omega v2.4.74a seems working fine but not the latest omega version. Any suggestion? Thanks

Thanks for your efforts - Omega.
We appreciate your work - it is too bad that Nvidia is too worried about CYA to realize your efforts actually could help their product but I have pretty much decided that ATI will exclusively get my support.
I don't like what Lawyers have done to our country. THANKS !!!

9800SE using Omega, with self modify on Omega Driver (Sorry to Omegadrive)

Finally, I managed to modify the Omega driver to get it working on 9800SE with the help of recent
forum :

http://www.driverheaven.net/showthre...&postid=197125

1 ) What i did is install the omega driver v2.4.78 for Win 2k/XP, while installation it will pop up the BIG RED ATI install screen, and lisence. And it show error on *.inf etc... Ignore the ERROR.

2 ) Browse to C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF

Select either one (depends on what refresh rate user select later in the installation) :

C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\75Hz

Or

C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\85Hz

Or

C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\100Hz

3 ) Find the directory mentioned above and keep browsing till you find two INF file called

"C2_RAD_OMEGA.inf" and "CX_RAD_OMEGA.inf"

Open these INF files for EDITING. Notepad or whatever.

Find the [ATI.Mfg] section.
Should look like this, < a REAL CATALYST inf is much longer. I have removed a bunch of lines>
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
[ATI.Mfg]

"RADEON 9700 PRO (Omega 2.4.78) " = ati2mtag_R300, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E44
"RADEON 9700 PRO - Secondary (Omega 2.4.78) " = ati2mtag_R300, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E64
"RADEON 9800 (Omega 2.4.78) " = ati2mtag_R350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E49
"RADEON 9800 - Secondary (Omega 2.4.78) " = ati2mtag_R350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E69
"RADEON 9800 PRO (Omega 2.4.78) " = ati2mtag_R350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E48
"RADEON 9800 PRO - Secondary (Omega 2.4.78) " = ati2mtag_R350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E68
"RADEON 9800 SE (Omega 2.4.78)" = ati2mtag_R350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4148
"RADEON 9800 SE - Secondary (Omega 2.4.78)" = ati2mtag_R350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4168
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You must ADD these lines to the INF file already added in the above example. (note the IDs 4148/4168)
"RADEON 9800 SE (Omega 2.4.78)" = ati2mtag_R350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4148
"RADEON 9800 SE - Secondary (Omega 2.4.78)" = ati2mtag_R350, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4168

Then you save the INF file with the new IDs.
Finally you install the driver by control panel -> Update display Driver, and you must browse to the directory ( eg.C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\85Hz )

**note: the 75Hz or \85Hz or \100Hz it depends on the update driver that user going to browse**
The key points to remember are,

1- must have driver unpacked on Hard Disk so you can edit the INF file.
2- Editing the inf will invalidate digital signing, so the driver will show as not certified.

4 ) After that go to control panal, go to Device Manager, update the display adapter on the Radeon Driver.

5 ) Update the particular driver, click install from a specific location , browse to :

C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\75Hz

or

C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\85Hz

or

C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\100Hz

6 ) Wait for it to install, while installing half way it require a driver, browse to:

C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF

Reboot!!! DONE!!! Now we got the latest 9800SE driver !!!

Sorry for that ree, it seems that when I was updating I forgot to add some "extra" cards support since I wanted to fix the "driver can't be installed" problem that I was getting in previous sets.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll fix it for next revision.

Rasterize, try the normal Omega driver, maybe the hacked one is not working properly.

What rate can i overclock?

The default core VPU clock is 325MHz and RAM 250MHz. I search the memory spec on the 9800SE(128bit) and all comes with 4ns, the spec wrote 4ns only support 250MHz...Any Advise?
