u should use normal drivers, as there is nothin you can get higher, maybe its time to make an 9800se --> 9800pro set? Omega?

ps. I thought there was a way to open 4 extra pipelines to the club 9800se but how to do it with ati 3.7 drivers (or drivers based on ati 3.7).... damn oh well tnx anyway.... [crosses fingers and hopes that OMEGA makes the *u know what* set]

tumppu, Why don't you try both hacks?
Maybe one of them opens the 4 extra pipes for the 9800SE, I think that if you use the 9700->9800 hack, it will work.

I haven't tested it because I don't have that card, but you can do it for me...

If it works let me know.

Where would i look to "see" that the extra pipes are open for me, for my 9700 pro when i use the hacked drivers? Just wondering out of curiosity.

if you have a 9700 Pro the 8 pipelines are all ready open

I think Omega forgot to add a line in one of the .inf files.
In the 2kxp_inf directory, the file cx_rad_omega.inf doesn't have an entry for the Mobility Radeon 7500.

The easiest way to get it working is to copy the entry for the Mobility FireGL 7500 and change the device id at the end of the line from 4c58 to 4c57. Also, don't forget to change the name of the device string from "Mobility FireGL 7500" to "Mobility 7500".

This worked for me. Hopefully Omega can release a new version which includes the Mobility 7500 of the bat.

By the way, thanks Omega! Without you, none of us mobility users would have any drivers.

These benchmarks are based on a comparison between the omegadrive cat 3.5 and cat 3.7.
All games run at 4xAA, 8XQAF, 1024*768. All game detail at max. (except shadows at medium)
unreal 2 is up by about 10fps, (especially during heavy firefights, which is great because now i can run it at 4XAA, not 2X) Also about 10-15fps increase in Crazy Taxi, now at an average of 50fps. No difference in Colin McRae 3, still 43fps constant. Mafia is up by 8-12fps, (which really helps out when driving) Serious Sam 2 is up by 20fps at times!! It's averaging about 45-60fps during heavy firefights on large outdoor maps and 85fps on smaller maps. MOH AA is up by about 10-12fps

It's average fps is 60 which i think is locked and it drops to 45fps at times on the omagh beach level.
Also went from 12231 in 3dmark2k1 to 12317. But 3dmark2k3 score was exactly the same?
Yet to try many others, will get back soon with more results...

i am using the 9700-->to 9800Pro hack and it change from 4pipelines to 8pipelines. It works... But can Omegadrive tell me what is the different between these 2 modes?

I have been using the Omega drivers for my 9700 Pro since the 2407a version with no problems at all. I have installed the new 3.7 version with the 9800 hacked driver and my system (XP Pro) acts as if there is no hardware acceleration. Forgotten Battles won't run, windows open slow, scrolling when surfing just like no HW acceleration. I went back to 3.6 and all was well. Any suggestions? Thanks

An update, after trying the normal, non hacked Omega 3.7 driver without any luck I did a clean driver install instead of installing the 3.7's on top of the 3.6's and the 3.7's are working now. I have never had to do that with Omega ATI drivers before. S!

Tnx for the replys (woah even Omegadrive answered i fell honored...)

well, then to the testing part.
I installed the newest omega setup files.
Naturally modified the .inf file in 75Hz folder to recognice my card (the .inf file for xp that i use to install the driver because of the .inf error i get when using the normal setup way).
Incase it´s not clear i am doing the install manually (damn .inf error).
Then my problems start, I have used the 9700->9800pro ati2mtag.sys and 9500->9700 ati2mtag.sys and even the 9800se->9800pro ati2mtag.sys (got it from ocfaq).
In every case i get a black screen after updating the drivers for the display adapter (club 3d 9800se) after rebooting naturally.

that leads to-->reboot.
Then the nice safemode of xp informs me of an error:

the driver for the display adapter device was unable to complete a drawing operation....pla pla

Error signature:
szAppName: Drivers.display szAppVer: 100241480000021002
szModName:ati2dvag.dll szModVer: 6.14.10.6378 Offset: BB2D06EA

That is what it tells me (don´t know if it is releavant)

also got this from a display adapter info : Bios information: BK-AMI VER 008.004.008.019

Oh i also get the same black screen when using rivatuner (force 9800) and ati 3.7 cats.

i'v been trying to install the rad_w2kxp_omega_2478.exe drivers.. but half way through it asked for disk2.. rad_w2kxp_omega_2478.2.exe..
i didnt see that on any site.. is there some thing im missing??

Did you clear your Internet cache files before downloading it....when you get a corrupt download of Omega's drivers it tends to prompt for the 2nd file

For the 9800SE u need to modify the codes...

Yes, 1st install the Omega, and it will show error!!!(red ATI install screen with error *.inf etc etc)

After the error message, close it and folders will be create in folder (eg. C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\85...

Follow the instructions on forum page 2, u can just edit the particular refresh rate folder
(75,85 or 100MHz eg. if u plan to run the refresh rate at 85MHz just edit 2 files in that folder)

After that run system update, browse to the modified driver and update (eg. C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers v2.4.78\2KXP_INF\85...

That is it, the 9800SE with 8 pipelines!!!

Hi Omegadrive.

I have been triing to install your new driver on my laptop with a Mobility radeon M6-C16h and the installation fails cause of a unsuported video card.

Now I am using the omega 2.4.60 and it work pretty well.

Is there a way i can install the new driver or is my mobility card not supported anymore ?

Same problem as others with mobility 7500. The setup didn't recognize the card. So I used Patje's Mod tool to patch the .inf/.ini files and it worked ok.

Omega take a look at it, I read you cut&pasted the mobility support from previous drivers, but those ones worked ok, these ones didn't.

One last question, after the reboot I didn't find the Control Panel anymore, does it get installed with this release or should I download it separately from ATI's site? In previous releases it was integrated in your package IIRC.
