I haven't tried a set of Omega's drivers in quite a long time. Since the last two Official Cat's didn't work out for me(game specific problems), I 'll give these a shot.

Just out of curiosity, have these drivers been discoved to fix any of the problems that the 3.7's have?

......finished D/L'ing them, off to check 'em out. I'll report back with my findings.

OK. I did my 'quick tests' of some games and everything went well. Install went very smooth and I haven't experienced any lock-ups or crashes. I didn't install any of the 'extra' utilities though.

Here's the games I 'quick tested':
Hover Ace
Indiana Jones and the Emporor's Tomb
Midnight Club 2
Moto GP 2
Silent Hill 2
Star Trek Elite Force 2
Starsky & Hutch
The Hulk
Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness
TRON 2.0

...and the ANCIENT game 'Incoming' for my bro....

Well, 'Incoming hasn't worked correctly since the Cat 2.5's, so I didn't expect much. It's still goofed.
'The Hulk' has missing textures on the ground. Here's a link to a pic of what I mean....

This issue with 'The Hulk' has existed since the Cat 3.6's. Maybe I'll try re-installing 'Hulk' or running it at less than 1280x1024 to see if that makes any difference. As far as I can tell, there has never been a patch released for this game yet. Possibly, since I never saw anyone else compaining about it, this may be an 8500 specific problem. I don't have any other Radeon's to try it on except 8500 variations and they all show the same problem.

Every other game appears to run flawlessly, I encoutered no stuttering in EF2 with TB enabled. And IQ is as great as you come to expect from Omega.

I always run with all the sliders set to 'Quality' and no v-sync or AA, AF at 16x. My 3DMark01 score was 200 points down with the 32bit Z-Buffer enabled, with it disabled my score is the same as the Cat 3.5hotfix, 3.6 and the 3.7's.

I'd have to say CHEERS to Omega for a fine set of drivers. I'm gonna see if I can find a work-around for 'The Hulk' as that the only REAL game that I see having any problems. But I know that's not Omega's fault since it does it with the last two Official Cat's too.

I'm sticking with ati drivers Omega. Some reason your driver set lost me 200 points in 3dmark01se 9733 from 9997 ati drivers. So I'm going skip this set for now

corrupt installation file?!?

Hi!

Downloaded the file 3 times now (first time from dh, second from tc and 3rd time from dh again) but i always geht following error message if i want to install the drivers:
C:\Program Files\Radeon...\2kXP_INF\ATIOGLXX.DL_
A decompression error has been detected. (#7)

A decompression error has been detected. _CRC

Any ides on how to fix that?
Tried installing in safe mode, normal mode, normal drivers, hacked drivers, nothings seems to make any difference.

And another minor problem (experienced this with previous driver set):
Wenn i want to install the Display drivers (i dont even get this far with the 3.7based omegas ) i get an error message the DX9 is not installed (DX9.0b is installed - i guess its not correctly detected by the drivers). Anyway, i chose to install drivers anyway and never had any problems....

THX in advance!

[edit]
Uninstalled old drivers first and ran DC2.0 to remove all the old files.
Dunno y, but i got used to this procedure, nothing is better than a clean install
[/edit]

You’re going to ditch the omega3.7 for a loss of points in a synthetic benchmark!!??
Your going to sacrifice IQ for a few points increase in 3dmark03, come on that’s not right.

Disable 'Support 32 bit Z-Buffer Depth' in the 'compatability setting' menu. THAT will get your 200 points back, it did for me.

By default, ATI drivers have this option disabled. Omega's will default it to Enabled. That's the option that signicantly affects the 3DMark score.

How does an OpenGL setting affect a DirectX application? Or is that openGL setting actually in the wrong spot in the drivers?

Th only thing I have in any compatibility settings about Z-buffer depth is in OpenGL- Look at my Direct3D tab-

What setting are you guys talking about?

Cyan007 is on a distinguished road

Over the weekend I got a new motherboard / cpu / memory and I installed everything, it worked, I used the Cat 3.7 Official drivers and it was a big problem while playing a Day of Defeat (HL MOD). Everything on the right side of my keyboard was bound to whatever shift was and there was a lot of mouse lag. I switched back to the Omega 3.6 and it worked fine. Will this problem remain with the Omega 3.7's?

Yes, I did- along with running DC v2 in safe mode. I also manually checked the registry and c drive as I always do. I think I see the problem- you are not talking about the Omega's based on the 3.7's for the 9700pro - look at your screen shot- It's not v. 2.4.78 like mine.

Don't think too much about that, look at your cards, the 32 support option is ONLY for 8500 and lower cards, R300 core based and above don't have that option because they are Dx9 parts, and Dx9 no loger supports 32bit Z-buffer in direct 3D, they now support up to 24Bit. At least, that's what it looks like since I have both a 9700 pro and a 8500 in another PC. Cheers!
