BF 1942 problem with Omega drivers

Hi,

First time here so be gentle - Installed new omega drivers and BF 1942 now will not start - sticks and gives a black screen after the double click on the icon. I have read other threads and made the "0 to 1" switch in the appropriate file, but I cannot seem to find a way to disable the "forced refresh rate". I uninstalled the new omega drivers and went back to old ones but the problem still persists. Can anyone tell me how to fix this or at least disable the forced refresh rate probelm. The divers added 2000 to my Mad Onion 2001 score so I would like to keep them...I think they also softmodded my video card - 4 to 8 pipelines. I also did the BF 1942 1.4 patch by the way. Help!

I've got the exact same problem. Here's how I fixed it. (This was in the demo for the new expansion pack but the informations correct, might just be in a different place.

BF directory\Mods\bf1942\settings\videodefault.con

Open it with word, then change "renderer.allowAllRefreshRates" to "1" . That should fix your problem. I've noticed that the text gets all garbled when you apply Refresh Rates other than 60 hz. Also, FSAA and AF messes with the text as well. I also 'skip' a lot in the game, like I miss a frame or two every couple of seconds. Ah, I love games that don't work correctly when you install them don't you?

[Edit]: It's not a driver issue, as I've got an nVidia card and you've got an ATi. I think you should've posted in gaming section but hey, what the heck.

BF1942 and omega drivers

Thanks but it did not fix the problem. As I stated in my first note, I did the 0 to 1 change and no remedy. I still think this has something to do with the forced refresh rate probelm with windows xp the 60 hertz thing. Anyone one else with a possible solution? I uninstalled BF 1942 and re-installed it - no fix...I added the 1.4 patch ...no fix....help

Derftydoofus

Thanks for the nice greeting and the help...by the way.

Are you using Refresh Force? I doubt it'll help at all but hey, who knows

Hmm could it be that the defult refresh when allowing custom refresh be something that your monitor cannot support? I beleive it stats at 60hz at some super tiny res like 320. One thing you should try is changing that back to 0 and going into your graphics properties and set your windows defult refresh rate to 60 so you can see if you get it working. There is also refresh rate programs which also must be set(as said) and also in your dx diag refresh rate has to be adjusted as well.

Good luck tell me if it works.
