does the 9800path improve anything in the current set of drivers?

Hi,
I see that the latest Omega drivers (based on the 3.6) still contain the 9700 > 9800 hack as an install option for 2K/XP. Does it achieve anything in the current set?

thanx Fafner

edit: (I've got win98 so I cant test it myself)

I think it does. I use it on my 9700p and the combo. of the hack and the Omega IQ boosts- I get faster performance AND better Image Quality. Cannot go wrong with that.

There is an option when you install them to use the hack or not- What video card do you have? I think the hack only works for 9500 and 9700 series.

I have a sapphire radeon 9700 non pro

But with the newest omega drivers for win98 there is no hacked driver option.

Should i download them anyway?
Or will there be a loss in performance?

I know smoothvision 2.1 shows up in the control panel, but is the output really 2.1, I mean does the 9700 have hardware support for this?

thanx for answering Faf
