OC 9500 Pro's with OMEGA

Hey everyone this is my first post here and i am a noob to OC, so please help me out ..

I am planning to OC my 9500 Pro with the Omega Drivers ... My case temp is close to 45C ...

1> Will my card OC ??? Are the 9500 PRO good OC's ???

2> How much difference do the OMEGA drivers make ??

In the OMEGA drivers readme page it says that there is a 9500->9800 hack available ... what does that mean ???
I thought that the 9500 was based on the 9700 ...

Any help is highly appreciated .....

Welcome to the forum :-)

Sorry, your 9500pro can't use that hacked driver (9500 to 9700)
But anyway, omega driver is much better than the original ati ones (I do think so), because it is optimized for gaming.
So stick with that.

Omega packedge comes with an overclock utility, so you will oc your vc speeds IF your video card bios is unlocked (but that's another story).

Some 9500pro are GREAT overclockers, so no need to worry.

BTW! oh my god, 45º for system temp (mobo) it's actually very high....... I extremelly advice you to get 2 or 3 case fans to turn this temps down asap, before you oc the card (which will be hotter, and your mobo too).

cheers

I already have the following case fans :

1 at the front
1 at the back
2 inbuilt PSU fans (one at the back and one inside)
1 Volcano 6 Cu..

I dunno why my computer runs that HOT !!@#@#$@#$ I dont OC...

BTW why cant I mod my 9500 Pro to the 9800 ???
I think I can OC without unlocking the BIOS by using the Rage3DTweak ... am i right ??

The 9500 -- 9700 mod only works with certain PCB designs. Which I have only seen on the Sapphire 9500 NON-PRO. The memory has to be in an L shape. The 9500PRO can not have the 256-bit pipelines unlocked, since it dosen't have them to unlock.

You also if it is a Buitl-By ATI 9500PRO, have to unlock the BIOS with a BIOS flash. Then you OC your card.

You only have 1 intake and exhaust fan, which would explain why your computer is so hot...

Let me put something straight

Your card MAY be overclocked to any overclock utility. But it will only overclock if the video card BIOS is unlocked. If it is, that's ok, go ahead. If it is not, you will have to flash it.

So just try to overclock and see if it works.

Check this for cooling:

The front cooler should be an intake fan. The psu is already an outake (exhauster). The cooler near from the cpu (back) should be an exhaust too to take out the hot air made by cpu helping the psu.

If ur mobo still hot, try to make a mod in your case, and get off that holes. U will need a dremel.
Also, think about getting larger fans, like 90 or even 120mm fans which work much better (but you will need to mod the case as well).

I almost forgot,

to improve the temps, is always a good idea to think about airflow.
So, rounded cables, do a great jobs compared to the regular ide/floppy cables. You should get one or mod your own (like I did, it's very easy).

A spiral cable to use on power/psu cables is a very good idea too.

I have 9500pro BBA, I use omega 3.6 drivers, I can OC without problems, just install omega drivers & radclocker, and use radclocker from ATI CP, you have no prob, and u cant turn 9500pro to 9800 cauze the memory is only 128bit, so u cant, but u can use smoothvision 2.1 and OC

Smilie

First of all you HAVE TO flash the BIOS !!!

Unlocked BIOS for your card you can find here:
http://www.3dchipset.com/bios/ati/warp11/index.php

THEN you can OC.

... using Omega's u dont need to flash, I havent flashed my 9500pro BBA and I can OC thx to omega drivers.

also 45ºc is too much HEAT, but I have been OC with same heat, and I had no problems. Have u tried underclocking? just an experiment.
