Sad ATI Radeon 9000

I have a Dell 600m with the Radeon 9000 64Mb card in it, and I am experiencing a weird issue, when I boot the notebook and reaches the XP Pro sceen I see three horizontal lines on the upper left corner of the screen.

Once it reaches the desktop, I see a white light on the tip or the pointer arrow, and on a field it has two vertical blinking lines.

This only happens when the notebook is on the power supply and not when using batteries.

Dell hasn't been helpful at all, I know I can retrurn the notebook, but I have 30 days to do so, and if I find the fix, I would like to keep it.

Thanks for your help!

PS, Has anyone else experienced this issue??

Cyberlord,

I'm running an inspiron d600 atm, 32 megs.
Not having any problems, as a mather of fact, screen looks absolutely beatifull!
Have you tried different drivers?

sorenusa,

It all depends for what you'll be using the laptop.
there are 2 options:

-either download the latest catalyst set and use the mobility modder --> www.driverheaven.net/patje
-download the latest omega drivers (they include mobility support).

difference?

- first option just installs standard radeon drivers for you chipset.
- second option are tweaked drivers, optimized for gaming purpose.

The choice is yours!

600m issue

Thanks for your message, I am glad your 600m has no problems, this is a know issues affecting the configuration that has the 64Mb ATI Radeon card when used with an XGA screen.

There are several posts on this at the Dell Talk Forums in their support site.

Seems that is a problem created by the BIOS upgrade A05.

Once again, thanks for your reply.
