First, thank you for any help, these forums and those that post here look great!
Now my problem. I was getting poor results on my current system in all benchmarks and decided to install winxp clean. I have a 120 gb drive in two 60 partitions. I installed a clean copy of XP pro on my second partition, loaded the newest omega drivers and everything seemed fine. When started to run the update for service pack one it crashed during install and when i rebooted windows was a mess, cant read a thing on the screen. Multiple reboots showed the same thing. i can read the bios info and such but as soon as the windows loading screen shows up all things go to hell. I then wiped the partiion and tried booting from the prexisting previously working install and i got the same thing. iI then reinstalled windows and it freaks out as soon as i enter. Cant even install drivers. Is there anything that the Omega drivers could have done to the bios on the Ati card? _______________________________ P4 2.4 800 2xGeil 3200 ddr 512 MSI 865PE neo2 FIS2R Maxtor 120 GB 7200rpm ATI AIW 9700 pro 1 annoyed gamer. |

No, the Omega's don't do anything to the Radeon's BIOS
. . . you might have a faulty card What kind of power supply do you have?

I cant tell you off hand (im at work) but its a 400W PS. The kicker is, it all worked fine, not optimal, but it worked before i reinstalled winxp and installed the omega drivers. Im swapping out the card tonight to try in another system but i cant imagine why it would have died like that.

I would only have one OS on the hdd.... or properly set up dual boot if you are not already. sounds like the windows updates are screwing things up for you not any GPU drivers. I would have one OS on the hdd and update it fully THEN put on ATI drivers of choice....

I just reinstalled widows XP pro a few hours ago- I first installed the motherboard chipset drivers (agp/IDE drivers)- then ran SP1 update- now I am doing the critical updates, then I am going to run the windows updates that I want- Including dx9.0b- Then, and only then, will I install the ATI/Omega drivers. After that I will install the sound drivers.
I didn't see you mention updating your AGP/ motherboars chipset drivers. Did you make sure to do that?

Well, i did a fresh install on a new HD with WinXp. Loaded SP1, then critical updates and then the newest Omega's. Everything works great ! i went from 2200 on 3dmark03 to 4675! That makes me very happy, especially since i thought my card was dead!
Thanks a bunch! |
