AIW 9700 and the new Omegas..

I have installed the new Omega's and they install fine. However, i cannot install the WDM's at all. I will get a yellow exclamation mark for the Rage Audio and Video Driver. I've used driver cleaner and uninstalled everything before installed the new drivers. The wdm's work fine when i revert to the ATI drivers and even the Omega 3.4's, so i believe its a bug specific to the Omega 3.5's. Can anyone with a 9700 AIW confirm?

Yup i did it following those methods and still a no go. I actually even went as far as to format and try it and i get the same results. Do you have an AIW 9700?

Hmmm..I have an AIW and I had this problem once, but a simple reinstall of the drivers fixed it for me. Try installing the regular 3.5s, then uninstall via add/remove, then boot into safe mode and run driver cleaner. Then back into normal Windows and install Omega's. Maybe that'll work?

I also have a wierd bug where if i installed the new Omega's with my AIW 9700, it will render every video file (doesnt matter if its mpeg, divx, etc) unplayable in windows xp. I have reproduced this bug many times on my system, and the only way to fix it is to use systerm restore. Maybe its just my computer, but i have never had a problem with any of the previous omegas..

Heres my specs for anyone that cares:

P4 2.0@3.0ghz
768MB PC800
TH7-IIRaid

What are you using to play video files? I've never had that problem with ATI's player, nor with DiVX or Windows Media Player. Perhaps it is the fault of the player and not the driver? Also, for the WDMs that do not install correctly, try manually updating the driver for each one via the device manager.

im using wmp 9.. but it doesnt work in any other player. Again this is just with the omega 3.5's. The original ati and all previous omega's work. Also, i tried manually installing the wdms. It actually installs them, but it says it cannot start it. I'm puzzled as you guys. I was just wondering if any other AIW 9700 users experienced this. I am currently back to the ATI's 3.5 and everything seems ok. I love omega's work... just for some reason, its not working out this time..=/

Well I'm using his 3.5 drivers and do not have this problem. The only time I had problem getting the WDMs to install was back at ATIs 3.2s. Never had it sense. Install the 3.5 WDMs, but don't take them out and then just install Omega's over that and see what happens.

I think I may have found a fix to your problem. I just reinstalled Windows and was experiencing the exact problem you were having. So this is what I ended up doing to fix it. I installed the CAT 3.5s (normals) and the WDMs. Then I uninstalled the display driver and did not run Driver Cleaner and after a reboot I installed Omega's 3.5s. Now the Media devices would not load after reboot (I even ran the ATI WDM install again). So I decided to give up on it and went to Windows Update. Low and behold there were some WDM driver updates it showed becase I did not have any drivers installed for the WDMs. So I downloaded these and let them install. After rebooting all the WDM devices loaded like they should have, but I got an exclamation on the Audio Crossbar and the Video one like you did. I then manually updated each driver and pointed it to the folder where the normal ATI WDMs extracted to. After this they all were installed fine and all worked. Anyway, you might give it a try.

EDIT: I don't think you would even have to install the normal CAT 3.5s. Just install Omega's and do what I did. If you already have the WDMs installed but have the exclamation point, then uninstall them all and go to Windows Update and try what I did.

I can view video files just fine, and DVDs. I didn't test it while I was having the problem though. Glad you got it working though.

install wdm's, then install the omegas... restart... this should give you a yellow exclamation on the video and audio rage devices in the device manager. maunally update the wdm's and everything should work...
