rolleyes Omega Drivers Instalaltion issue

Hello guys.

Just installed Omega 2443 driver and have some questions, but first the "why" I choosed them.

Have a HP ze5185 P4 2.4Ghz, 512RAM, Mobility M6 (32RAM), XP Pro SP1a. I usually do no use it for gaming, but for desktop & music applications. Since the beginng had a lot of BSOD or symply shutdown with any application, say Word, PCDJ, SoundForge even Notepad ! je je je

The BSOD I've had : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL , PFN_LIST_CORRUPT , PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, BAD_POOL_CALLER , DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL all of this with the original HP driver for the M6. Don't understand much about this things, but read that somehow all of them are related to a driver problem. Why I thing where the ATI drivers ? Most of the time I got messages about the ati2dvag.dll and other dll related to ati icon in task bar. There was not or much info in Event Viewer after rebooting.

Don“t know if this info is useful for you developer guys, but as a newbie think I have to give as much details as I can.

Culdn't install the Radeon Drivers form ATI; after searching a while found the Omega divers, and tought worth give it a chance. First uninstalled the ATI drivers, reboot and installed Omega's. Got an error and the used the Patje's Mobility Modder. Rebooted, installed again and during the process got a lot stop errors (those popup windows with a red X) with empty messages so I don't know what was going on, just hit OK to all of them. Then got an ATI background, something was installed untill "message_swartgart_warning" was shown, hit ok and rebooted. Any Ideas what happened here ?

Display was ok but at 16bit depth, just changed it to 32 and 75 mhz to monitor. Detected as Mobility Radeon AGP (0X4C59), Internal DAC (350), 32 MB, Radeon Mobility

There is only the ATI Clock Rate and Windows (General, Monitor, etc.) tabs where the full ATI control panel was. Is this norrmal or something went wrong during installation ? What this Clock Rate is for ?

Tested S-Video 2nd monitor (17" Envision LCD Flat Monitor - TV Ready) an resolution was worst that my first Atari computer je je je. Blurry with no datail of any kind; even at 640 or 800. Is this ok for this type of interface (S-Video) or could it be another problem ?

At this time have tested the system with no major problems or BSOD; just some application shutdowns (As the XP way does). Word and EditPad scroll smootly (think ), still have to test audio applications.

Guys, could you please guide me on how to solve and improve my video performance (most 2D). I can tell you later, but do you think this driver is better than the provided by HP ?

Thanks for your time . . . and patience !

Oscar.

System Specs

1:Un-install all ati software/drivers/control panel etc

2: Run regedit and go to this key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Co ntrol\Video

3: Delete any keys that are within video (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Video\{23A77BF7-ED96-40EC-AF06-9B1F4867732A}) there may be multiple entries like this depending on how many installs you have attempted

4: Reboot

5:Cancel display driver installation and go with Standard VGA

6:Run DriverCleaner

7:Install new drivers, mobility patch, control panel etc....

8:Reboot and enjoy :P

I hope this helps

Thanks for your reply Chaos,

I followed your instructions step by step but my laptop did not like it je je je

Fortunatelly I made a back up of everything and gonna make a clean XP install. Also made a copy of the directory where de Omega drivers where already patched with Patje's Modder.

After XP setup VGA driver is loaded, so I think obvious steps are to install AGP drivers and then use the Omega's backup folder to install ATI driver; hope this time it works.

BTW, Control Panel must be installed from Omega's release or could use HP's ?

Thanks a lot !!!

Hello guys,

Just downloaded latest Omega release (July 4th); installation had no problems . . . hope my laptop too

It solved the "lack" of support for Mobility and blank stop messages.

I'll be in touch.

Thanks, Oscar.
