ATi's Discontinued List
Found this a bit odd......I have a 9500 Pro, and it's on this list of products that ATi has discontinued.
I can't understand why.

That is because ATI has stopped production of the card and replaced it with the 9600 series....sooner or later the 9700 series will join that list...

ATI refreshes products fast
Weren't they supposed to slow down? I swear I remember them announcing that they were increasing the length of their product cycles.

I think they were talking about the time between chips
R300-R350 was quite speedy
R350-R400 will take a bit longer imo

There won't be a R400, but an R420, at
least according to sites around the net.
The 9500 Pro was a great card, and it's a shame
that the 9600 Pro only has 4 pipelines. It would
probably rock with an 8 pipeline architecture.
It does have 256-bit memory architecture? Or is
it only 128?

Ehh, thats stupid as hell.. r9500 owns, this card probably beats the r9600 (use the goddamn 9500 > 9700 softmod, or bios)

Isn't this just for the BUILT BY ATI cards........ Won't all third party (Powered by ATI) cards still be produced? ATI is stopping the BUILT BY ATI cards for good.

Couldn't you hack the bios or something with a 9500 and unlock the 8 pipelines? I thought I read about that somewhere. Didn't they discontinue it because they were losing money due to the fact that it was too much card for it's price? I thought it was like an easy overclock to get it up to 9700 starndards. ::shrug:: Just thought I'd post with a random rant.

Could've sworn that ATI stopping production of their built by cards for good was just a rumor, wasn't there a post about it in DH news? I don't know, I'd check the archives but I'm too lazy .
