ATI 9100 IGP-Drivers installed but no 1280*800 resoultion

Hi there,

I spent my entire evening googeling for suitable drivers for my old Laptop (Asus Z7700 which is rare and badly supported, uses ATI 9100 IGP-Chipset / Graphics and Widescreen-LCD 1280*800) using WindowsXP.

I successfully installed a current Catalyst-driver with DriverHeaven-Mobility-Modder. So far, so good. Unfortunately, Windows thinks that he's running on an 4:3-screen because there are only those "typical" resoultions available (1280*768 would come close but even that one isn't stretched but put in 4:3 mode using Windows' "move cursor to the right and we pan to the right"-mode or how it's called).

So how do I make WindowsXP to run the correct resolution?

Thanks in advance!

I think that PowerStrip would be the easiest solution. It's a small utility that can create custom resolutions.

Re: ATI 9100 IGP-Drivers installed but no 1280*800 resoultion

That's strange, I remember using PowerStrip to make a Radeon 7500 output a 1680*1050 resolution.

You can always try the manual approach (though it's pretty much the same as what PowerStrip does, only without a GUI). I was able to find these instructions: How to add custom resolutions on ATI without 3rd party programs? - Futuremark / YouGamers Forums

Also, you may add the custom resolution to the driver by editing a file and reinstalling the driver (this I did once, so it should work): CGTalk - [HowTo] Ati Radeon -> Ati FireGL (softmod) No need to read everything, it's an old guide for installing FireGL drivers on common Radeon cards, just skip to the "ADDING CUSTOM SCREEN RESOLUTIONS TO YOUR FIREGL DRIVER" part (it doesn't matter that it's about FireGL drivers, Radeon driver inf files have the same structure).

Good luck.
