ATI Radeon 9600 Turbo Pro Update Help
Ok,
I've looked all over for help on this issue. I installed The Sims 3 yesterday. At first when I loaded it, the game would act like it was loading and then blank out, I then went to Dell's site and downloaded the driver update from 2005 (that is the most recent one they had), the game then loaded up but only worked for about 15 minutes before crashing and giving this message: "The ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft." I then tried to go to ATI's website and downloaded the 9.3 catalyst, when it got to installation I got this error: "Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit" I am at a loss, I finally used the ATI removal tool and removed everything and rolled back to the 2005 driver, but I would like to be able to play my game. If anyone is willing to help me basically step by step (I'm really clueless now but I'm savvy enough to follow directions) I would really appreciate it. I will be checking back really often as to not keep any helpers waiting. Thanks Specs: Dell Inspiron 8600 Intel (R) Pentium (R) M processor 1400 MHz (1.4 GHz) ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo (Version 6.14.00.10.6561) Chip Type: ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Series AGP Internal DAC (400MHz) - 128.0 MB 2 GB RAM Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3 DirectX 9.0c I will gladly post any other information needed |

Re: ATI Radeon 9600 Turbo Pro Update Help
No but I still wouldn't know what to do if I installed the modder, I can try it really quick because I am on my mini laptop so I can restart the other, should I uninstall the 2005 drivers, re-install the 9.3 catalyst, then install the modder?
If so, what do I do after that? Thanks for the quick reply. ETA: ran it with the modder, everything seems to be working now, will give a final update if the game runs. Last edited by JRobi31; Jun 5, 2009 at 12:50 AM. Reason: Working now |

I've got that problem about the Sims 3 and the Ati Radeon 9600 (not turbo pro ?), desinstalled Catalyst Center thingy (as I was recommended somewhere else) but it still doesn't work...
My problem is that when I load the Sims, everything works properly, until I enter the village... Insted of the pictures, the 3D, I've got a blue screen, but I've got the menu anyway, same for the "create a sim" page... I've got, as I told you, an ATI Radeon 9600, driver version 6.14.10.6497 (from november 2004)... Please help, Sims 3 seems to be a good game :] Edit : I've followed these instructions > http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/46527.page but now, I've got that black screen problem... At first I saw the Village finally loaded, but when I wanted to enter the "create a sim" page, my screen went black, I've heard a "bip" from my windows, and then my screen goes in sleep mode while my computer still "works"... Djaaaah !! Goddamned Sims 3 ! Last edited by SophieSuff; Jul 4, 2009 at 12:03 AM. Reason: Tried to do it by myself |
