problem with omega driver's and resolution

hello, having a bit of a problem which I was unable to rectify through use of the search function. just got done installing the omega drivers for my radeon 9700 pro on windows xp pro w/ sp1. now, whenever i restar the computer, it always restarts back in 640x480x16 mode, whereas i'm normally trying to run windows in 800x600x32. Anyone have any suggestions or methodology for fixing the problem, ie. switching drivers around, etc. and so forth?

I think this will get moved to the Drivers thread, but here's a quick answer from my own experience.

When I first install new drivers, upon each subsequent reboot for about 5 times, I'll get a restart back at the setting using my TV OUT enabled. I have to go into the Display Properties and reset everything. After about 5 times of rebooting, the setting I want will finally 'stick'. That might be your case, too.

could try driver cleaner

1. Download and install Driver Cleaner (link on front of www.driverheaven.net page on left)
2. Remove all ATI/Nvidia stuff from add/remove programs but don't reboot
3. unplug nic
4. reboot and cancel out of windows auto detect
5. run driver cleaner program selecting ATI or Nvidia whichever applies
6. reboot and cancel out again and go into device mgr and verify two yellow exclamaition points (if none try cleaner in safe mode)
7. install latest official catalyst drivers and control panel
8. reboot
9. plug back in nic
