i have sapphire radeon 9500 pro, winxp, cats3.4, directx 9 yadda yadda

for some reason cs refuses to run in opengl... it says this mode is unsupported by your video card. thats bs tho cuz ive always run cs in gl with my older radeon and theres no feasible reason that i can think of why its not working.

sure directx works fine but i want to know whats wrong and if there are any fixes...

also, how do i enable truform in cs?

Truform has to be an option built into the game in order for ATI technology to use it. AFAIK, CS has no kind of truform at all!

is this a sudden problem? have you been able to run it in OGL on this card for some time and it just occured?

is this a new card for you system? if so, how do you prep your system before sticking new card in?

I tried TRUFORM for CS, and trust me... it SUCKS, you get 50 FPS MAX, so I turned it off and now I get 99FPS.

Also when TRUFORM is on in CS it makes all the guns truformed as well. Makes them look fat and bulbous(sp?).

Console command for TRUFORM:
ati_npatch 1
ati_npatch 0

1=On
0=Off

its a new video card, before i was using a 4mb pci card... i uninstalled the pci card and then installed the radeon immediately after a reboot...

my next step would be a clean OS install. obviously you have conflicting drivers in there. no doubt from remains of your pci card drivers. spending all of that money on a cutting edge GPU and then not getting the most out of it just ain't right and by the time you spend posting, waiting for reply, testing, posting again etc... you'd have had time to install the OS 3 times

your choice but 99% sure you will not get your new card running at 100% until you do so... whichever is more important to you..... keeping it like it is with your card having problems but the OS the way you like it or reinstalling and taking time to reconfigure it all and having a fully functional GPU. I know which one I would choose especially after spending several hundred dollars on a piece of hardware

edit - did you run the driver cleaner proggy yet?

This might be because it was set too high in CS . . .
There are 2 variables to set for TRUFORM in CS (after enabling it in the driver control panel)
ati_npatch 1 turns it on (as projectHUMAN mentioned)
ati_subdiv X sets the level of TRUFORM (1, 2, 3, integers only) . . . by default it is at 2, which is too high imo. I think ati_subdiv 1 is OK to use on most maps . . . some maps have too many polygons (or whatever ) and even 1 is too high, so I'd set ati_subdiv at 1, and then you can bind keys to turn ati_npatch on and off as needed
