Toshiba A305 with HD 3470 on XP
Model a305-s6843 Came with vista, and I am now dual booting xp.
I havent found any working drivers for an xp laptop yet. I have used the mobility modder and i have found drivers from other manufactures for the same chipset on XP. Omega driver too. Setup always ends with the message saying my hardware isnt supported. DXDIAG shows no info for my video card, is this a problem? Or does that come with a working driver? I have tried various drivers for about a week now and I have had no progress. Im at a loss, what am I missing? |

Secondly, I'm puzzled as to why so many people are 'downgrading' from pre-installed Vista to XP? I'm not being facetious here. I'm serious. It seems to me that people are simply opening up a Pandora's Box when they do this. Drivers are difficult, if not completely impossible to find, and the time spent trying to make it work simply rolls over and over. So, I'll get off my soapbox and suggest this site: Top Ten Windows Vista Tweaks and Shortcuts It provides Vista Tweaks for laptop users that may or may not fit your goals, but it will make the laptop work better under Vista. Good luck!

Re: Toshiba A305 with HD 3470 on XP
Thanks for the reply.
Like I said, it's a dual boot. I am still not ready to do away with vista completely. I really don't mind vista interface, I just really like the performance I get out of xp. It has been pretty trouble free. I have only booted into vista two or three times in the last week, and I am always disappointed with the start up time and how easily it gets bogged down. I will try those fixes though. Thanks. I'm still looking for a solution to my driver problem though. Shouldn't dxdiag be able to at least recognize my video chipset? |
