ATI Radeon HD 3200 drivers on XP give blue error screen.
Hi, I'm new to the forums. Hoping someone can help me fix this issue.
I just picked up a new PC (Gateway GT5694) for my family to use since they destroyed their old HDD. I partioned the harddrive and installed XP next to Vista and the OS is fully updated and functional until I install the display drivers. The specs are: XP Pro SP3 with .Net2.0 (32bit) AMD Phenom x4 9100 at 1.8ghz 4g RAM ATI HD Radeon 3200 (onboard) I have tried installing the correct ATI drivers for the integrated card and the newest Radeon drivers for a stand alone card. Both yield the same blue error screen which says that an error has occured with new software or hardware and windows has halted in order to prevent further damage. It also says to go into the BIOS and disable caching or shadowing which I looked for but could not find in any of the BIOS settings. Booting into safe mode and removing the display drivers resolves this issue. I then wiped the drivers from the harddrive and tried to install the Omega Drivers. The install completes without any issue (tried with FastWrite Off and then On) but after a restart ATI Tray tools says it cannont find the ATI Control Panel or CCC. The display drivers are also not in effect and SmartGart does not work and I recieve another error message stating that ATIPRBXX.exe is not found. So I uninstalled the Omega drivers as well. In a last ditch effort I tried to install the integrated ATI official drivers and then rebooted in safe mode to uninstall the CCC and reinstalled the Omega Drivers on top of the ATI drivers. The same blue error screen appears. I am now at a loss for what to do so I wiped all the graphics drivers off of the system again. I hope this is enough information and I hope someone can help. Thanks, skimm EDIT: Just found the hotfix and will definitely try it as soon as I am home UPDATE: The agp hotfix did not fix the issue and I still received the BSOD New Idea: I leave for school in two days so I won't be able to help them fix it but I was thinking and I have an older card, a 256mb Radeon 9600 I believe. I'm gonna install it tonight and that should work without any issues unless I didn't think something through. If anyone has a reason this would not work please let me know because I intend to use this as a fix until I can figure why the other card and drivers do not work. Thanks again.
