I'm posting again, please reply...

Hate being a "Nudnik"...
but here I go again...
I don't know about software programming much, but my question is this.
First, I use Cat 3.4 + Rage3DTweak, and have no problem.
I'm tempted to use your driver...
My question is: What are they? What they do? Will they help my games and in what way? What are these hacks and will they work on my board?
My System is: Built by ATI Radeon 9500PRO, ATHLON XP 2700, 256x2 (512MB) DDR400 - that's what counts..ehh?

Anyways, Thanks alot!

Idan.

Pissed

Ok, I'm gonna try and remain clam here. I suggested to my brother, to get your new Omega drivers. He has a stock Sapphire9500np128 on a 20' Mitsubishi DiamondScan HL6945ATK. Upon first boot from driver reboot, NO VIDEO! Windows2000 w/sp3 makes it as far as the B+W progress bar that shoots across the bottom, then NO VIDEO for the rest of the boot, right to dektop. Sounds are all there, no video signal though. So he starts freaking out on me! He can't wait for me to post on it, so i tell him to boot to safe mode and uninstall them. Still no video!! He's really pissed, I look like an AZZ for suggesting it!! Before the Omegas he had stock Cat3.2 installed and did an add/remove on them before the Omega install. The monitor is older and has BNC type connections, I feel this might have something to do with it! (refresh tweaks/locks?) Please help!

Quade:

Did you make sure you un-installed the ATI Control Panel before you installed the Omega's?

I did the same thing first time out on the 2407a's. If you leave the ATI CP installed or install it while installing the Omega's.
you will get the kind of problems you are describing. Exact same thing happened to me, and I came in here kinda mad.
Someone told me this and I felt like an idiot.

HTH

Once again, you've done it OmegaDrive. The Catalyst 3.4 drivers really screamed on my system until I installed yours. Great Job!

Some issues here.

Why does the install process ask me for a Disk #2 about 3/4 of the way installed. I do not get it. It is asking for the file but with a .2 on the end. What would be causing this? A bad install file?

He did the long 2 reboots to get it all out. The Cats and the CP...
Whats the problem that causes? Shoud he have ran a driver cleaner too?? is there any way to get back without reinstalling windows? I sure hope so...

Softmod 9700pro>9800

As i see comparing the hacked "ATI2MTAG.SYS" you give with Omega drivers and the one coming from http://www.maxdownloads.com/~ian/wizzard/ , it is the same (to the bytes numer), so i suppose it is the one you used...

In fact, the speak about the 9500>9700 mod for this file, not the 9700(pro)>9800 (with smoothvision 2.1), thinking (do i suppose - as i saw on other posts) the Mod that was made for the Cat 3.2 (and that was a kind of pre-version of the cat 3.3 file) would now be part of the Cat 3.4...

In fact, i used the "Softmod 9700>9800" coming from http://www.tommti-systems.de/main-Da...t/ati2mtag.exe (from the post of Shuki), as other people did, and i immediately saw a performance hit in 3DM2k1...

BUT NOW, (i know it is hard to follow...:-)), with your new Omegadriver OR the Cat 3.4 + the sofmod from maxdownloads (2 tests on a FRESH XP Install - A7V8X-all patchs, DX9.0a, XP2800,etc..), i obtain the SAME RESULTS...(and btw, no sign of smoothvision 2.1 or 9700 engine recognized as a 9800 in dxdiag)

What do i think ?

1st - if the "9700 > 9800 softmod" is really in the Cat 3.4, it is well hiding and don't produce any hit - compared to 3.2 + softmod (more - i lost +/- 100 points)

2nd - if it is in your Omega driver, same : it is well hiding and don't produce any hit - compared to 3.2 + softmod (more - i lost +/- 100 points)

Ho of course i've read all the things ATI worked on with the 3.4, i'm not disappointed, but in this case precisely, i wonder WHERE does the 9700>9800 softmod hide ???

I had the same issue mate, I had to manually remove the radclock folder from the omega drivers bit in Program files then download radclock 5.51 from the website and install it in its own directory as opposed to the omega one. It works a treat after every boot up i.e no reset.

Hope this helps

Fixed the install problem. Bad install file. Now fixed.

However, the OC doesn't maintain the setting after reboot. Otherwise excellent drivers.

Oh yeah... I did a 3dmark2001 test compared to the Catalyst 3.4 and I lost about 120 points. But I guess these drivers are optimized for games pretty much.. so GJ.

Anyone have a comparative link between ATI cat 3.4 and the Omegas?

Hi Omegadrive,

This driver is very good, I tested it with 3d Mark 2k3 and had 250 Points more.
Then I tested Battlefield 1942, great, than Soldier of Fortune 2, perfect no
problems. Till now this one is very good !

Many Thanks, DTC

The hack from 9700--->9800 IS working, for those of you who installed it.

If you will try Sandra 2003, you will see under the video display info that it says Chipset 9800.

Have you ever thought about removing the Radeon card, putting a different video card in, uninstall the ATI drivers, then putting back your radeon?? I'm pretty sure that would of fixed your problem. But you opted to be impatient so I guess happy reinstalling OS. And being rude will get you further from help.....

for all those guys who have the "second-disk" prob: Your downloaded file is corrupt! Had the same error, downloaded it again and it worked without flaws .

Another question:
Do the color quickkeys (under display->advanced->color) or settings you apply to the standard scheme have any impact on the actuel brightness, gamma etc in your games? Didnt recognise any difference in CS, Vietcong or Morrowind....
Really bad if someone is camping in Dust2 dungeon, at those really dark spots and you cant see him although the monitor brightness is turned all the way up.

My performance on these drivers is TERRIBLE right now. I was able to run CS @ 1024 x 768-32, 2x AA Quality and 8X AF and still maintain 100 fps all the time. Now I lag down to 40 fps. I was NOT having this problem with the regular Catalyst 3.4

Going to try a reboot and see if this works.

Omega-
I was running the old 2407 drivers fine, then installed the new ones with the 9700-->9800 hacked drivers on my 9700np. I reboot, and can no longer run any opengl applications. My refresh rate is fux0red as well, the screen flickers when scrolling. I've tried a variety of resolutions, same thing. I uninstalled the drivers and tried again with the normal 2443 drivers, but to no avail. Any ideas?

I just downloaded and used them, got a 200 point increase in 3d Mark 03. Now it'd seem all is good and well, but, for some strange reason, Morrowind is running horribly! I'm going to try the reg. catalyst 3.4 drivers and see if it's just a problem with the Catalyst's themselves.

Just had 2 serious Lockups under Win2k3. I know this OS is not supported by your driver, but i thought maybe other users can help me.
First i installed the drivers with the softmod (in my case 9700->9800).
After some time my sys would just hang for about 10 secs, then i get an errormessage that ati2mtag (i or something like it :-)) has caused an error and the display driver isnt working properly. Well, unistalled drivers (with Drivercleaner 1.5) und reinstalled them without the softmod. Again same problem.
Anyone knows a solution? Had exactly the same kinda problem with the 2407a.
Hmm, thinking about switching back to XP, but i just simply love this 2k3 Server OS :-)

any help would be appreciated!

/edit
just got this error again during Inetsurfing...
The file“s name is ati2dvag.
Will now reinstall the 3.4 Cats, was running them only one day and didnt get this error. Will update this post tomorrow!

/edit2
well, what shall i say?
Just got this fu***** error again with the official 3.4 Cats...
Will now try to disable WriteCombining.

I've installed the new cat3.4 omega drivers, and they seem ok (ie everything still works!). I've been running a timedemo in IL2 sturmovik forgotten battles - the track 'aerobatics 1' with 'manual view control' on and left alone (ie viewpoint follows plane). OGL mode, 1280x1024, all settings to max except 'landscape lighting' set to 'high'

What I'm not sure about is whether overclocking is working (9500 pro, non-hacked driver)

With 276.75, 270MHz (core, mem) I get 52fps av, 39fps min.
With 425, 344 52 39
I'm guessing that it's not totally cpu limited because if I go to e.g. 4xAA frame rates drop to 37ave, 27min (37ave, 28min with overclocking)

I can see that the overclocking's doing something because when I set it too high (450 core or 360 mem) I get artifacts on the desktop immediately.

Should I be seeing any speedup, am I doing some weird booboo etc.?

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Great drivers .... but ....

Hi,

I'm using your drivers for a while know ... but when I install these drivers I get errors when the ATi drivers dialog gets installed ... a few red X popup boxes with only OK too click on ... no error message thats's the problem, so i don't know
