CATALYST 3.4 Rating
Can you give me an indication from 1-10 how you rate the drivers? 1 being the lowest 10 being the highest?

A nice 8 for the 3.4s
Well, I personally haven't gone through and benched or tried to see if any of the fixes actually worked, but reading through your Driver Documentation. I'm just in awe as to how many issues the CATALYST Driver Team fixed or addressed and to find that performance has been increased throughout all boards is just splendid. I've been meaning to ask, what's the difference between ATI's approach of increasing 3DMark03 scores and Nvidia's method (cheat)?

Well what i still hoping is not performance boost (a numberical game of 3DMarks) but increasing the compatibility & stability overall. Rather than a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED ati3d2ag.dll

I had no real problems with the 3.2's, and after a couple of hours with these, they seem to be just as stable. 3DMarks are about the same. Anything but a step backwards is a good thing. I'll give them a 9.
Gotta keep you working...

Well not that I'm complaining. But I did vote on the 5 Because I seem to have lost about 200 3DMarks in 3DMark2001
But other than that they seem fine so far
I do have one question for you CM if you have the time to reply, I have the 9500Pro That I have Flashed the bios on. So now it says its a 9700 PRo But as we all know its not
So when I installed the new 3.4's I'm sure it loaded drivers for the 9700 Pro, Is there a difference in the 9700/9500 drivers? Should I do anything differently?
Thanks in advance.

Number 6
The drivers, value wise, only give us HDTV/DVI users half the use of the entire video card. As the next generation display panels lack the screen manipulation functions as CRT/analog TV. I have 9700pro, so game performance wise, still no problems I notice with games I play.

You dont honestly think I am going to answer a question about flashing your BIOS, voiding your warranty, and making your card something its not do you?

I gave them a 6. I based it on overall value as an upgrade from the 3.2's. They're no doubt fine drivers but.... see previous rant.

Well I did hope you could answer a simple question,
There was no need to be that way man! And I didnt ask about flashing my Bios.
I know exactly what I did to my card and warranty. I'm not wanting you to say that flashing your bios is right or wrong!
Just a simple yes the bios are diffrent or no there not!

Noticeable improvement for me over the 3.2's. Visual quality seems better in the few games I ran { Black Hawk Down & High Heat 2004}. Ran the new & the old 3dMark , scores up about 7% on 2003 & down like amount in 2001. "9"

After a long night of formating my hard drive and geting these new drivers installed i have a 1300 point increase in 3dmark2001se, which I would have to say that alot of those points were due to the new OS, but after benchmarking my machine I found that 2.4 gave me about 11% increase in 3dmark, they also seemed to run better in Half Life and Quake 3.
Thanks
Ed

Well I gave the CAT 3.4 a full 9.
I would have given the CAT 3.4 a 10 but I have one problem with my 8500DV card.
The MMC/TV would consume 100% of the CPU with the 1394 enabled on the 8500DV card.
Changing the jumpers on the 8500DV card to disable the 1394 fixed my problem. I did lose my cam but to be honest I am not sure if this is really a ATI driver issue or not. Yes it worked with CAT 3.2 but then again this looks like a timing window problem. Change something in the code might break it on my motherboard.
What I am saying is the changes to CAT 3.4 are worth losing my 1394 over. I can always put my pyro 1394 card back in for 1394. The new MMC is also very cool with the new remote control features.
I am watching a DVD video of the Moody Blues right now and it is working just like I like it.
Here is my setup, you will love this.
I have the 8500DV connected to a Sony Trinitron PVM-2030 - 21' Studio Monitor using S-VIDEO.
I also have the composite from the 8500DV going to my wife's computer. She also has a ATI AIW card.
I pop in the DVD and minimize it. I see the movie on my external TV and my wife across the room is watching the same DVD on her computer screen.
Did you know you could use S-VIDEO and composite video at the same time. It works great!
Yes, CAT 3.4 gets a 9 and if my 1394 was still functional I would have given it a 10.
Almost forgot:
Fixed with CAT 3.4:
1.) SPEC Viewperf 7.0 no longer has a problem running ugs-01.
2.) Comanche 4 Benchmark is now able to run the offical test.

Did you previously have a problem with FPS dropping in HL and now it's fixed?
I'm interested in knowing what you changed (besides installing 3.4) that led to fixing your problems.

Well i was one initially who had troubles at first. When i first installed them, i had some serious jaggedness going on, and the comp ran slow, and everyhing would like load up slugglish and all. Someone told me to do the performance tab down yet this wasnt it. Also when loading up Hl it said your card does not support open GL. i just about freaked out. Well anyways, I went thru the procedure to uninstal then instal again. All looked better, and the control panel now had open gl and d3d in it, i didnt notice before that they were not there. HL loaded up, seemd great, yet still a bit jaggy. Figured it improved since reinstal so i did it again. All is working great now..i mean real sweet.. The color scheme is terrific, and the in game vibrance seeems to be improved vastly. The only weird thing is that in 2001 bence I lost 679 points, and oddly enough in 2003 gained 1200. All in all I am extremely pleased with this set and give kudos to the ATI team for getting out a a set that im giving a 9
Thank guys..your the best...
LONG LIVE ATI

I definetly give it a 9. i picked up about 500 points in 3d mark 01 , and i finally broke 5000 in 3dmark 03, some of you may not agree with me, but this is my opinion, great job ATI.
Anyone know how i can publish my 3DMark 01 SE Score, it will not let me publish anymore for some reason, if i had to many published i did delete most of em, except 2. Any help will be appreciated.

I gave them a 9......no benchmarks yet, but picture vibrance and clarity seems better to me. But one thing....is there a way yet to get the DivX acceleration on Radeon 9000 Pro? I can accelerate that Real Media crap.....why can't I accelerate Divx. Please someone help. I will Benchmark later on in Medal of Honor

I installed Cat 3.4 driver and installed MMC 8.5 also.
Catalyst driver is very good. But MMC has some bug about Overlay (I guess. sigh).
In Cat control panel, go to overlay menu and click that. I use dual monitor and TV out, but overlay setting is disable.(But it is not serious. I don't care that.)
After MMC 8.5 installed ( DAO install -> DVD Decoder install -> MMC 8.5 install )
I excuted several AVI files for testing.
When I executed all kind of avi files ( DIVX, XVID, MPEG4, 3IVX ). It appeared too.
When MMC starting, Monitor is black-out and turn it on instantly.
Catalysts Maker, can you check it is bug or not, please?
