I gave them a 1.
They kill GTA VC and have massive graphic anormalities in Enter the Matrix which are the only two games I play right now.

Other than that I found the new color tab to be a little bit dissapointing. I was expecting a bit more of a ATi version of DV.

what video card are you running? im playing GTA vice city myself with the 9800 pro Cat 3.4 and the graphics are perfect. I know there are issues with this game and older cards such as the 8500.... and as for enter the matrix, well I dont have any abormalities apart from the fact the graphics are pretty dreadful (plays pretty good though).

9700 Pro

enter the matrix has pretty bad clipping/z-buffer errors and the graphics are choppy as hell

I'll try reinstalling GTA VC, but I doubt it helps.

There's a number of fixes listed over here and here for that problem, you might want to go take a quick look.

EDITED BITS: Are you having a problem with "Enter the Matrix" on the original version or the patched version that came out yesterday?

I have a crucial 9700 pro, and GTAVC runs fine & dandy, what do you mean by "kills it"?

The newest Catalyst 3.4 were well worth the wait. Smooth as silk and truthfully, I believe, better saturation and contrast than the 3.2 and 3.3 drivers.

Thank you.

1.51

looks like crap (the game itself also looks like crap but the z-buffer/clipping errors make it look even worse, come to think of it I bet it's due to ATi not supporting a W-buffer anymore. The game defaults to using the W-buffer on my FX and I have no such problems while using it)

Glad to hear that fixed it up for ya, GTA3 had the same problem. You'll probably have to do that everytime you change your drivers, I just forgive R*N for it since they did such a bloody great job of coding GTA:VC!!

As for the re-vote, I do believe one of the mods can alter the vote for ya if'n you ask nicely. Just tell them what you voted and what you want your vote changed to and they can alter the count for ya.

I just modified the poll, so hopefully that squares it all up.

I agree 100% digital I think Vice city is really a truly amazing game, and im loving every minute of it. it runs amazingly well on the 9800 pro, ive got it running on Cat 3.4 1600x1200 with 16 aniso and 2fsaa getting amazing frame rates and everything running like butter. its also great fun to play.

as for anything GTA, just ask Digi, he is the DH GTA modding expert

the "no AA, aniso" bug in 3.4 has to do with dualscreen... you cannot set AA levels if your secondary screen is enabled... and you have to reboot aswell. this sucks... submitting a report to ati...

I gave a score of 1 because

whenever I play Warcraft 3, the game screen really really dark and hazy and I can't see anything. On this computer, I'm running a Radeon 7000 or VE (in case you get confused about my sig and what I write down right now). I'm gonna try to uninstall the 3.4 and see if I have the same problem with 3.1 or 3.2.

Geez, I hope ATI stops having problems with game compatibility.

can I just clarify this, you are saying that if you have both monitors enabled when you change either AA or aniso on the primary monitor it doesnt take effect? and you then have to reboot from single monitor mode?

if you disable the secondary monitor while changing these settings do you find they alter immediately? or do you still have to reboot?

i vote for 9.why? because in almost all benches i get lower scores(3dmark2001SE,UT2003 bench),only 3dmark2003 went up for 200 3dmarks. but i can still play the games with 4XFSAA and 4XAF and that's what important to me.

if the secondary screen is enabled, the changes you make in the ogl/d3d panels (in regard to aniso and aa anyways) are not applied - not a thing happens - even though the sliders wil remember their positions, it has no effect on 3d applications. to get aa in a game you have to disable your secondary screen, apply the changes and reboot. i dont know if you have to reboot in single screen mode too, but it worked that way.

anyways secondary monitor have to be disabled when fiddling with aa settings and a reboot is required afterwards.

the only way to get aa in a game with dualscreen is if the game supports ati's smoothvision (like codecreatures)

Well considering the release notes suggested that these drivers wouldnt be much good for Radeon 9000 owners I've found them to work perfectly and had no problems at all. Most importantly though, GTA: Vice City works fine with them so I`m happy

What are your system specs of the rig with the 9000 in it that runs GTA:VC well?

No reason for asking, just curious.....

I vote 10.

Becaurse my system run most more stable. Not even a single crash in 1 day. Before (with 3.2) I had more than 20-25 dayli crash related to the graphic card driver acording Windows XP.

Also in 3Dmark 2003 it goes from about 46?? properly mush less, can't remeber the number, it goes up to 5009 point.
That's great. Everything seems to run much better than before.

So ATI, I really like your work. For me, it works perfectly. It even did think format my harddrive AGAIN, but just be install the new one, I helps of everything.

Thanks ATI, thank you very much!

Hopes a future driver keep comming up with fixes and prefermance, and help people that still has problems.

As I said in another thread, for some reason morrowind started performing horribly with these new drivers, this is with shadows on. (I have a 9500 Pro and an Athlon XP 2400+, 512MB DDR 2100 Ram). Don't know if maybe it's a bug but on the 3.2s I could run with shadows on without too much of a performance hit.

Uhm GTA Vice City works flawlessly on my comp, not a single problem at all, so if you have any issues then it's gotta be a conflict somewhere. GTA Vice City was the first game I started up after I had installed cat 3.4 And it would have been nice if you gave us some more information than only kill GTA VC kinda hard to help you if you don't explain the problem a bit more.

I gave them a 6 due to this very problem, that and they weren't what I was expecting in terms of performance, the Omega version of them made them that though

To be more clear about what El_Coyote said what happens is if you have dual monitors, and your primary monitor is plugged into the VGA and not the DVI port, changes made in the ATi control panel will not work. The control panel is putting the settings under the Radeon 9700 Pro - Secondary registry key rather than primary. As you may realize...that does nothing, in order to make changes to your control panel settings you have to disable your secondary monitor before you do it, it doesn't require a reboot. You can re-enable the secondary monitor afterwards, but any further settings changes will require you to turn it off again. I've tested this significantly, and this is what appears to be going on. Wish I had just turned the damn thing off in the first place instead of the 10+ 3.4 reinstalls I did. It was not like this in previous drivers.

I dont know if anybody noticed this problem yet but when after I installed the 3.4 drivers everything runs great and my 3Dmark 2003 is up by 200 points and all the games work except Splinter Cell and yes it is running the latest patch, after playing for around 5 min the system shuts down on me every single time does not matter what level I am on, I even used the Driver Cleaner before I installed the driver I also tried the the Omega drivers and same thing happens since its is based on 3.4 so i went back to 3.2 and everything runs fine obviously something in the 3.4 version is causing the problem in Splinter Cell just thought I let ATI know. Since this is a very popular game and this is a major bug i have to gave a rating of 5. Otherwise I love ATI screw the unethical NVIDIA you guys do it the right way.

In these driveres, the "display" menu in the ATI control panel is different from before. How do I access the "monitor" section of the previous "display" menu? (the place with the + and - keys that synchronize the monitor or something)

overheating ?!, not to be rude but read it again, I said splinter cell is the only game that I am having a problem with and the fact that I went back to 3.2 and everything is fine proves that this is not a overheating problem but a driver problem, if it were overheating I would be having problems in every game that I play and my system tempature is always between 42-48c even when folding
