Resolution problem with Omega Drivers on laptop

I'm having problems with the monitor resizing resolutions whenever I flip down my laptop monitor (Dell Inspiron E1505 using Radeon x1400 Mobility card). The screen resolution changes from 1680x1050 to 1024x768 once the laptop screen is flipped down and the monitor off. When I flip it up and turn on the monitor again, it changes from 1024x768 to 1680x1050. I know this doesn't seem to be much of a problem, but it gets annoying. I'm using the latest version of Omega Drivers but the problem I'm having started happening a year ago and I was never able to get rid of it. Thanks in advance.

I've read somewhere about this being something to do with the resolution settings for a second monitor, whether you have one connected or not. The thing to do is to go into the Settings tab of Display Properties and tick the Extend my Windows Desktop and play around with the settings to get both monitor resolutions the same. It's such a common problem affecting different video cards that it sounds like a bug within Windows in my opinion.
