I emailed patje about this:
A friend of mine has a Sony VAIO with mobility radeon 7500, the laptop sucked for casual gaming in every aspect since it has a very old set of drivers, but because it runs very important software like a database or something i cant format it and reinstall windows clean, so i grabbed the patje“s mod tool and patched the Cats 3.4, then installed over old drivers and the laptop now works awesome, agp 4x, all games he owns like UT classic and UT2003 also GTA3 runs very nice, buddy says he doesnt recalls the laptop working so good...thanks patje for your program

You can already use the 2k/XP drivers in Win2003. Follow this guide on how to get win2003 to do 3D.

Good Luck!

Wow your supidity amazes me. One of my threads above states that I already did that and 3d does work, but many games are corrupted. Especially in direct 3d. Plain and simpe the XP and 2000 drivers have issues with 2003. They work but not right. I am not the only person who has said this.

guys, chill, id like to remind everyone to have a little respect for others on Driverheaven, we try to keep it nice and friendly.
its also better if you get your point across in a polite manner while stating the facts, then people will respect you more and perhaps listen.
flaming isnt productive.

Sorry for chewing you out, but you are the nineth person today to point me to that link, that I had found and used weeks ago. You are also the 9th person who didn't know what they were talking about and you didnt bother to read the whole thread and see everything I said (not all on this message board, hardocp, rage3d, etc). Don't you think that I can find that on my own, I mean really. This is a known issue with windows 2003 and it will take ATI to fix it. I'm just asking that you get all the facts before you post a solution to a problem that you know nothing about. It happens in Warcraft III (opengl and D3d), GTA3, Ut2003 (only is d3d), and thats all I have tested so far but I'm sure theirs others. It is big texture corruption, lines moving up and down. Bascially it's not playable. I'll try and take a screen shot and post it later. For some odd reason Half Life works fine in Open Gl, D3d, and Direct Draw.
Wow been a long time since I last visited DriverHeaven.net been hanging out at hardocp and rage3d to much.
Got to fix my signature and why do I only have 5 posts I know I've posted more then that, oh well they must have reset it or something at least my account is still active.

Well I just want to thank Catalyst Maker and the rest of the guys at ATI for yet another good driver. I wasnt expecting them to work at all after reading the release notes on the XPsp1/Radeon 9000 known issues with this driver. But I've installed the 3.4's and all works perfectly, 16xAniso in 1024x768x32 in GTA VC, runs like a dream

My 2D issues seem to have been resolved by a complete rip down and reinstall again. This time I was a little mor anal about wiping out EVERYTHING that started with ati in file names.
Thx for the suggestion to try again, I am happy now.

This is a list of games that work on Windows 2003, using the current ATI drivers, I know this for a fact because I own everyone of them and do test them before I upgrade my other machines. The games seem to not only run better, but do run a little faster on 2003 then they do on XP, seem that memory management is a whole lot better and uses only half the services XP use. There are other games I have but they are not installed at the moment.

that link doesnt go to a list and the only game that I have tried that has worked properly is half life. My emulators work fine as well. What I am gripeing about is Warcraft III and GTA3. Neither are playable.
I like 2003 more then xp or 2000. That is why i want to use it. I just want ati to address it, Still no offical word if they are even working on it. I kinda expect 3.4 to have them and 6-8 weeks for 3.5 is kinda unacceptable in my opinion. Nvidia does have problems with these games in 2003 I tested with a geforce 4mx (not mine though).

My games and benchmarks work fine, just no videos of any kind will play- I also used the cab cleaner in DH driver cleaner- did I mess up and hose windows by doing that?
Should I just uninstall and reinstall drivers? I already reinstalled QT and same errors pop up- I'm starting to worry. please help...
** other than that- nice drivers with great performance and NICE COLORS. A little more "digital vibrance" with these ones- NICE...
*edit- I reinstalled drivers AND QT again and I still have the problem- Only seems to happen when I change video plkayer size or move player around on desktop while player is actually playing a movie- seems to happen to QT more- In halflife trailer it happens everytime. If I pause movie before stretching it to a bigger size it doesn't seem to throw up the error--- hmmmmm Maybe I have to uninstall QT and actually clean out the registry and left over program files because I did have zoomplayer installed for a while- But it didn't do this before cat 3.4's-- NObody else is avong this problem?

Can I turn off Ati2evxx.exe service and smatrgart service without causing any problems? I don't use hotkeys, I already know what AGP settings are set at, and I know that fastwrites and SBA are set at- So is there any harm in turning these services off? Or could it cause problems with the drivers doing their normal job in games. Does anyone else turn these services off permanently?

Mwarhead,
i am using windows server 2003 Enterprise edition, and play alot of new games right now like unreal2 , splinter cell, arx fatalis, iron storm etc. I have no problems with any game and everything is smooth with the 3.4 catalyst drivers. I have used the 3.2 drivers before , without any problems either. It seems that there is something wrong with your rig ...
Have you used any other O/S with success on this rig or is it a new rig ?
