SmartGuard

Should SmartGuard be installed by default with the drivers or does it come with the control panel setup..

Hmmm smartguard finally installed after the third attempt. No more stutter.............yay

If I can't fix this its back to modded 9800 path 3.2's

i cant force AA in the drivers either.
only things that can turn them on ingame works... like codecreatures :\

I hate to post my rant over here on Driver Heaven but Rage 3D is down and I want ATI and those with problems to see my take on this whole driver fiasco....

I just don't get it. Would you guys [ATI] spend some more time actually FIXING sh!t and quit screwing with are marginal performance increases? The R300 series is fast enough for now God dammit. Are we too worried that we might lose the performance crown to Nvidia's underhanded marketing? I just don't see what gives. Everyone's been blabbing about how these drivers are going to kick so much ass we won't be able to walk for two weeks but in the end, we see no huge difference and many of the same issues exist. Come on already. Practice what you preach or screw this WHQL crap and start giving us more driver sets so we can attempt to find one that suits our individual needs best. This 6-8 week cycle for a 5-10% performance increase in FSAA and AF just isn't doing it. I've bitten my tounge on issues for quite some time figuring you guys were on the right track. God damn.

But hey, at least 3DMark 2003 is faster right?

Catalyst Maker I really do appreciate your work and involvement here, but damn man, come on.

At least Half-Life got fixed.

Some people got screwed in the deal. Some people got a bonus. For some nothing changed. Is this what you call a unified driver (cough 9000 bug cough).

Hey runner, that prob was with me. Iy took me 3 reinstalls to get this driver to work. Each time uninstaling in control panel and then doing the driver remover. 3 times, to finally get anything to move in control panel, hell the first install didnt have the d3d or open gl in it.....and the comp ran like hell...3 installs later it all seems to be fine for now. Though i am down on 3d bence in 2001 almost 800 points, yet up in 2003 about 400. Very strange....anyways thats all I got....Good luck man

Next time don't "bite your tongue on issues" and don't come on the forums screaming at ATI for not fixing problems..

Instead go here http://apps.ati.com/driverfeedback/ and tell ATI what problems you're having

BTW - that doesn't mean use the form as a place to yell and b*tch at ATI. It means take the time to tell ATI all the pertinent information that they can use to solve the problems you're having.

People are going to have to start understand that just because they b*tch and moan in a forum thread that Catalyst Maker might happen to read doesn't mean the problem is going to get fixed.

I don't know wth got changed in these new drivers that would cover my problem:

But in my opinion, this is a very stupid bug, Ive been trying ever since these came out today to get this to work and nothing will fix it. I'll tell you one thing though, this set of drivers has pissed me off more than any other set I can remember. And that says something considering ive used every single leaked and official driver set from the original 3276's when the 8500 was first released up till these with my 9700 Pro. Im not going to say this can't be a problem with my rig, but it sure as hell isn't something I've done. I've tried every damn thing I can think of to get these to work, followed instructions to the last letter from the readme with these, done what I usually do which is completely wipe any trace of the old drivers, manual driver installs, everything...multiple times. Save format, which I highly doubt will make any difference given what I have done already, unless something is hijacking the 9700's settings somehow...besides, this is a relatively clean install anyway, its about 1 week and a half old or so now. I don't know what to do anymore...Oh and I have reported it to catalystcrew.

Actually buddy the amount of work we did on performance improvements versus bug fixes versus new features breaks down like this 10% for performance, 60% for bug fixes and stability and 30% for new features.

What is broken for you? You coming on here and tell me to "come on" doesnt really give me much to go on. Right now I am scanning the various forums and dont see any new bugs across the board. All I see is individual system type issues which usually can get fixed.

So please let me know what I can do to make you happier. Give me a detailed problem description and a steps to reproduce scenario. Of course the forums are not the best place to give me this info so make sure you use CATALYST CREW thats what its there for. But feel free to let me know in the forums I may end up reading it and spending some personal time to make you happy!

Catalyst maker, if you've seen my problem I would greatly appreciate some feedback if you have time, is this likely a problem with my system or a wacky little bug? I have honestly tried everything I could think of to alleviate the problem...El_Coyote has the same problem and from what I can tell of his system, they are very different platforms. Anyways, which is it? Bug or Problem here? Give the word and I will format.

Pissed

Well I am not happy with recent Catalyst 3.4

When i am playing Planetside:
Catalyst: 3.0/3.0a - About an hr of gameplay to blue screen
3.1 - Immediately blue screen after logged in and loading the game
3.2 - One to five minutes to blue screen
3.4 - Same as 3.1

The message is:

KMOD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED ati3d2ag.dll

Radeon 8500LE ATI Original

A big problem

The new drivers have somehow limited my movement in Quake 3. I have it set to always run, but ever since installing these, I will run for a little bit then walk then run (randomly). I think it has something to do with the rounding error in Q3 with the fps but I don't know what these drivers messed up, as the previous ones didn't affect the movement. I"m also still getting crashing with the Urban Terror mod but I guess I will just reinstall it or delete the q3config file and hope for the best. Hope these work well for the rest of you, bye

catalyst maker, maybe you can help me with my problem - (this is copy and paste from another forum)

Can someone please help me?

I've got an AMD Athlong 1.333 (not clocked0
512m ram
win xp
DX9 (now updated to 9.0a)
ATI Radeon 9500 PRO (updated from NVidia Geforce2 GTS - in case that makes a difference)
tried all Catalyst from 3.0-3.x (as i type this 3.4 JUST came out - but i have no internet at home, so it will be some time before i get it home and try)

Anyway - in F1 2002 (and only this game - most others are ok, GPL won't load, but it's an old game) i get some weird polygon problems - it's hard to describe, like whoever drew the polygons (if they did it with a pen - work with me here) forgot to lift the pen and moved somewhere else on the screen to draw the next one.

The cars also have triangular holes all over the place, like someone has moved one of the points from where it's meant to be

the sky is also just a few very large polygons - some black

Also the background texture (mostly tree texture) sometimes appears across the track (much like adelaide in the original M3 mod release) except this is only since changing vid cards..

does this make sense? - can anyone help please? - much appreciated.

Descent 3 and Desktop corruption after VESA. I don't have to provide much else as you already have the information. Those are my personal desires for the drivers. I've read other peoples problems as well, filtering out the user error/hardware config/etc and made my own judgement.

CM I know you work hard to bring us these drivers. I also realize you're pressured by your own superiors within ATI to meet certain goals and such. I don't mean to come off harsh at you personally. It's just frusterating to go so many months with a problem and never see it touched (Descent 3 bug) though I have no doubt you guys are now looking into it. It took me mentioning it twice before you requested the information. Luckily I was able to get an error message out of Windows that time.

Because if only one or two people report it, it may be very low on the list of things to do.

The more people report a specific issue, its gets bumped up.
