X800 GTO: disable video RAM region?

Hello all,

my 2.5 year old Sapphire X800 GTO has some defects in its video RAM. There is a very small area in which I get dead green pixels.
I'm absolutely sure that it has no other origin than a hardware defect, since the defect pixels are static, independent of power supply load, over/underclocking and the other usual suspects.
In fact, the problem was there since I bought the card, but until i found a video RAM testing program I was never sure enough to return it to Sapphire and the defect area was outside the visble memory area on screen. But now I have a new monitor and use a higher resolution, and the error is right on screen on Windows desktop.

Now to my question: Is there any driver that allows me to disable a specific VRAM region? Maybe by defining an additional desktop which is not shown on the connected display just at the start of the memory?
The defect region must be just at the beginning, maybe smewhere around 8 MiB within the 256 MiB RAM.

I guess thats an rather unusual issue, but maybe someone knows a solution.
