Installed it fine but trouble with CCC start after reboot ('please tell MS' errors)
Took me 3 attempts of uninstall/install until it snapped to work even after using driver cleaner. On the good side a 200 points improvement in 3Dmark06 Overall this driver feels faster even on the desktop EDIT: perhaps this has something to do with my problem - system event viewer reports: The protected system file f:\windows\system32\drivers\ati2mtag.sys could not be verified as valid because Windows File Protection is terminating. Use the SFC utility to verify the integrity of the file at a later time. Last edited by Max59; Apr 16, 2008 at 09:02 PM. |

You need to wait the hot fix or driver from the manufacturer... If I'm not mistaken the HD3800 series is meant PCI-E only.

How's the OpenGL in this one?
If Opengl is still a bust compared to 7.11, then I shall probably throw 7.11 on and call it a day - not much to gain with new drivers on older cards unless there's a significant bugfix.

Hmmm, I'm experiencing crashing with this set of drivers. I might have to rollback to the older drivers...

They suck in certain games. COD4 considerably crippled.

HD 3870 here from Sapphire, I Get horrible graphic artifacts and then a REBOOT when trying to play H264 encoded videos.. this only started after I installed CAT 8.4
8.3 was fine for me, but changed to 8.4 due of random studdering in TF2 ( which was introduced in 8.2 and it doesn't seem to be fixed in 8.4 for me.. ) my specs: AMD X2 3800+ @ 2.5 Ghz 2 GB DDR 4 x 512MBKingston DDR400 Asus A8N-E Western Digital Caviar 250 GB, Seagate 160 + 250 GB HD 3870 from Sapphire (reference design) Windows XP SP2 ESP *quick edit* I forgot to write that Im using dual display, a viewsonic 19 G90F and a acer al2216W *edit* confirmed . I rolled back to 8.3 hotfix and problem went away, moved back to 8.4 and the problem of video playback is there. Last edited by tamalero; Apr 25, 2008 at 12:29 AM. |

It arrived this morning, these cards are excellent, I can now actually read text and turn on shadows in my games .
I would like to thank the ATI team for making such crappy drivers that it forced me over to Nvidia and the divine 8800, I am so happy I could just burst.
