Need some advice with this old AGP rig?

I am going to install a ATI 9800xt in the system and do not plan on installing the CCC but would rather just install the ati tray tools. I do not do alot of gaming any longer so would you suggest any of the older drivers between 7.4 - 7.10 to be sufficient.

I do not know if the new 8.3`s have the AGP hotfix included in them.

Rig Specs:

Intel 2.4 B P4
Intel MB D845pece
Chipset 845pe
2 gig of patriot pc2700
1 WD 120G HD
Antec 480 Watt P.S.

Regards,

All the Catalyst drivers continue to support the older AGP products.

The hotfix is to resolve problems which occured primarily with NON - Intel chipsets/CPUs. And the hotfix also installs on HD 2400 AGP and newer cards that are still not included in Catalyst.

In fact I was using an AIW 9800 AGP (successfully) as recently as Catalyst 8.1 but I moved to a PCIE system.

So you should be free to install pretty much whichever driver you would prefer.

Why are the "newer" cards ie HD 2600 PRO (not a card i would say is that "new") why are they still not included in the regular Catalyst versions ... Maybe its just me but only the hotfix will install with the regular driver release i get no compatable hardware found.
I do not understand why i am having to use a hotfix on a card that is at least 6 months old
