hello, i'm a very noob in know how with drivers and hardware...
so i hope someone can help...
first of all i have installed the omega 3.8.442 driver..
i play cstrike and try to have 101 fps but it jumps very fast down to 80 then up to 100... vertical sync is off... my question is, if other drivers could hold it more constant...
Make sure youre running in opengl, do not use any Anti Aliasing/Anistropic filtering. Try setting catalyst AI to 'Advanced' mode. Try playing with mipmap quality and see if it helps (shouldnt matter too much though).
Also lowering resolution in cstrike should help. Try 16bit too.
if i remember, i get like 150-200fps on hl1 with 6xAA, 1024x768, opengl 32bit
ok just tested on my 2k, seems to be capped at 100fps, 6xAA, 1024x768... it's much smoother when i set fps_max to 75 since this (crt) monitor's refresh is 75
do you see any difference when it jumps? or is it just the counter?
Unless its causing artifacting (screen tearing or whatnot) you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between 80 FPS and 101 FPS assuming 80 is as low as it goes and you've got the FPS counter off.
