Games I cant play with my HD2600AGP 512MB GFX Card
Star Wars Republic Commandos Lost Empires Immortals Rome Total War Medieval II Total War Age of Empires 3 with Expansions All of these I get a total system shut down I have used all the hot fixes and several other drivers older even same thing. These games ran fine on my X1600Pro 256MB AGP GFX Card before it died after 2 years of use. Wish I could find another one somewhere new I would take this piece of crap HD2600 out and put in an old out dated card that actually worked with all my games. Why or what has happened to ATI they have lost something somewhere or are not adding in all the things needed to run games in there drivers anymore. |

It might have some thing to do to the fact that officially ATI has dropped AGP from their newest products. So that's why ATI drivers won't work so you would need the driver from the company that made your card.
The issue is similar to the mobile chipset issue on laptops... |

I just tried the Catalyst 8.3 Hotfix AGP Driver and it works like the modified HIS Radeon 8.1 drivers.
However it FAILED all Direct3D tests and failed the 2nd Direct Draw test. So lots of improvements to come I can only imagine for my HIS HD3850 Turbo.

Well, i'll start out with sys specs.
Intel P4 3.0 Prescott CPU 3.0 gigs of UTLTRA PC3200 DDR (400mhz) 200gig SATA HDD 20 gig (used for OS) Asus P4P800E Deluxe (Mobo) Sapphire Radeon HD3850 512 AGP I have tried it ALL, nothing works. any of the drivers above installed, will work fine unti'll it locks up or restarts, then it won't even boot into windows without me going into safe mode and removing the drivers. I've spent maybe 5 days straight trying to get this to work.... i've come to the conclusion that this videocard is not worth buying... sure it has great features but if they don't work, why bother?.... you wouldn't buy a brand new car that turns off every 2-3 blocks would you? |

Is your power supply strong enough for the 3850? at least it must have 30A on the +12v rail.

Hey the new hotfix->Catalyst version 8.6 is out and it works fine for me. I have HIS Radeon HD2600XT AGP8X and with standart fan. Tha games don't crash anymore but still not getting the expected performance. I now wish to timetravel and return back to when I decided to buy this card and instead buy the X1650Pro AGP8X b/c I heard that those cards are not having the same problems I had although HD2xxx series are supposed to be better at both technology and performance.

Hello folks, I'm here because I have an ATI X1300 Pro (AGP) that I cannot load on my system. I have a Gigabyte GA -K8NSC 939 motherboard with the nVidia nForce 3 250 chipset running 2GB RAM, AMD 64 3200+ processor. I have tried every fix I think available on the 'net. When I try to load the drivers I get "Setup cannot locate components" message. I have tried the Omega drivers with no luck, and many more. I have even done the remove all signs of ATI Drivers from the windows and the registry, nothing works if anyone knows of a working fix please HELP!!!!!. I'm a disabled vet on limited income and I'm trying to save having to purchase a new card and/or motherboard just to fix a graphics problem. If this problem has been addressed and solved I apologize, but I haven't found a solution to get me out of my present dilemma.

BTW, the latest 8.7 Hotfix did not install for my card. I now refer to AMD/ATI officially as DAMIT. Because they can't get a DAMIT driver to work. Last edited by crack1up; Aug 1, 2008 at 07:52 AM. Reason: added statement |

Replying to Angels49: I suspect, that you, like me, made the mistake of mixing an ATI card when your system already was optimized for Nvidia...probably should stick with their video cards if your sys already has their chips. That combined with all the tweaks available in NTUNE would probably work fine. I myself have just stuck with the 7.7 drivers and have no difficulty with the Orangebox or Crysis (I can run Crysis on medium video quality with no lag-not bad for a 2.08 GHz machine). I am running an ancient machine by todays standards (HP Athlon 2800+ maxed out memory and the ATI 1600 512 Mb vid card). I think the key in all this mess is if the game runs fine with the drivers you have just leave it alone (if it isn't broke, don't fix it). If we have the tweak bug, it probably would make you happier if you just designed your own system from scratch-at least you would know what you have and what it can do-been thinking of going that route myself...

Re: Ati radeon agp hotfix driver is out
Just a quick update for this thread.
ATI has release the AGP Hotfix for the 9.1 version of drivers, available for XP, XP 64-bit, Vista 32 & 64 AMD Customer Care Edit: And the XP 32bit version of this 9.1 hotfix driver completely fubar my display, all I could get was 8-bit, 640x480. But, that is my results only, mileage may vary. If you have a 2xxx or 3xxx and want/need a new driver, give them a try. Just don't forget the ol' saying, "Caveat emptor". Back to the ol' tried & true 8.12 AGP Hotfix for me.
