Radeon Omega Drivers v4.8.442 for Windows XP/2k

Happy New Year!!!

Couldn't start the year without a bang, so here it is, this time for the ATI fans since I have made them wait since October, new Omega Drivers for Windows XP based on the official Catalyst 7.12 drivers.

What's New in Omega Drivers?
v4.8.442
[*] Based on the Catalyst 7.12 Official drivers.
[*] Major video card support rewrite from scratch. This time every Radeon card under the sun should be supported, if the divers don't install on your card you either have a freak of nature card or a card too new that not even the ATI has support for it.

(Many thanks to all the people that sent their unsupported IDs)
[+] Added support for desktop HD3k Series and laptop HD2k Series.
[+] Experimental Gamma settings. Now whatever gamma setting you set on your desktop should pass on to your 3D applications. (tested with Adobe Gamma)
[+] The "temporary" fix for AGP cards still included. Waiting for ATI releases an official fix... *sigh*
[*] Upgraded installer to reflect logo/site changes.
[*] Upgraded drivers to v4 because of the previous details, plus thanks to a new install method I found, reduced the driver's size by a lot without loosing any features or options.

Thanks for this release, haven't tried any games out yet.

+ Installs fine.
+ Cool new Omega icons.
- No 'Automatic Settings' for TV-out(resizes TV-out to fit output device) because lack of the ccc.
- Unable to customize Direct3D- or OpenGL-settings via cp. ATT works fine.

Request
Make a cp-/ccc-(perhaps even att-)free installation or way to uninstall old cp.

Thanks for this driver: the only thing doesn't works is openGL, but i use this patch and all works!

I'm using ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600

I love the CP...

I have asked for this a long time ago, but it's still here. Back in the days when the CCC didn't exist the CP installation in the Catalyst package was optional, so I think it should be possible to make it so with the Omegas.

Just like in your previous release i can not get 75hz refresh rate on my x1950pro on 1440x900 why? Is there a fix for this?
I have also unchecked the use dcc information and still 60max even though it says 1600x900 max @ 75hz supported

Well, could it be cause I only include 60Hz for that resolution?
Seriously, why 75Hz? LCDs don't need more than 60Hz, is not like old CRTs that needed higher Hz so your eyes didn't burn out. And don't give me the excuse of lower FPS cause of v-sync, there are 2 options to prevent that: no v-sync and v-sync + triple buffering.

As for the old CP guys, I was planning on removing it, but like the nvidia drivers + laptops, I barely had any time to work on them, specially in the holidays, I just wanted to release them before new year to get them out of the way and start working on the Vista stuff and other projects.

Thanx! I really enjoy your drivers, and I'm glad the 7.12-based are out there.
However when I installed the AGP & fastwrites off version of the driver it says 3.8.442 as a version number. The Control panel says it's 7.12 drivers though. I was just wondering if this might be a lapsus.

Let see if my X1450 is compatible or am i going to use X1400 again ? either way great job on the build +1 to you man. I never had the CP there before ... on the older build let see what happens when i restart

edit: So i restarted and the drivers didn't change, so i tried to re-install the omega drivers and the pop told me my card was not compatible... so I manually installed the X1400 drivers since there is no X1450 But nice build once again

ya the site mentions the 3 is a typo since he changed to 4 in the installer, after he was done compiling the rest as a 3

I used the Cat 7.12 OGL, so you may still have the same problem, but try them, maybe one of my tweaks actually fixes it, hehe.

D/L the new driver exe that I love by the way. Everything loaded up fine. I have one problem with a game Rome Total war it loads all the way and just before you can start playing it restarts my computer. I have no clue as to why.

Also what to try rolling back to the older 7.10 you have to see what happens. Is there a place on your site for the older driver links?

Edit: Update No better it causes the computer to restart after game loads up. Going back to v4.8.442

I've just intall this drivers, they are good, and about the att is still without full suport for de hd 3k series, overclock and that stuff dont work to well. Tweaking and filters works perfectly

This will be the first time I use these, thanks for all your effort.

I noticed that you recommend not using ATI Tool; I only use it for controlling the fan speeds on my GPUs. Are there any alternatives which you recommend?

Firstly I just like to say thanks for all the effort you've put into this stuff OmegaDrive.
I do have a problem though. I've just install the new set and now I can't get my display out of 16bit color. The drivers say they are running in 32bit color, but actaully I'm only seeing 16bit, several things are corrupted generally where there should be a gradient there is now only 2 or 3 colors etc.

Any ideas what might be happening. It was fine with the previous release.

I use Rivatuner, the fan setting works perfectly with ATI cards plus is really quick at loading the fan settings at windows startup (doesn't need to be running on memory).

Try re-installing on top, use the shortcut from Start menu. You using any programs that control Gamma separately from the ATI CP or ATT btw?

Cheers, OmegaDrive, the reinstall worked fine (and now i'm embarresed for not trying that my self)

BTW The system I'm running has a control called "Splendid Video" which controls gamma, but all seems to be fine now anyway.

We know the hardware is there (HD38x0), but Ati's drivers are not so good...

Firstly I would like to say hi as it`s my first post here.

Secondly I had to register and say what a great job with the Omega drivers. I only recently upgraded my Geforce 6800 to the X1950 pro agp and have been pulling my hair out soo far.
As you can see from my profile I have a very dated system but just wanted to try and squeeze as much out of it as I could. I will be upgrading this month but not to pci due to wantng to keep and see how good this gpu is. (Athlon 64 x2 6000, new agp mobo etc).

Anyways... these drivers...
I used driver sweeper in safe mode and deleted all the files it didn`t manually.
These installed and for the first time since trying cat 5.4`s? (I have tried them all) the dxdiag tests not only passed well but the box doesn`t spin as if it is on drugs!!!
3Dmark 05 has passed without a crash also. (6913 but my cpu doesn`t help does it?)
Until now I have had fastwrites and write combining off. I installed these with fastwrites ON and write combining ON. I`m not counting my chickens yet but all seems well.

Just would like to say thanks, I was soo used to multiple detonator releases and now find a bit of a rut with official ATI drivers.

I will be upgrading this month but not to pci due to wantng to keep and see how good this gpu is. (Athlon 64 x2 6000, new agp mobo etc). Anyways... these drivers... I used driver sweeper in safe mode and deleted all the files it didn`t manually. These installed and for the first time since trying cat 5.4`s? (I have tried them all) the dxdiag tests not only passed well but the box doesn`t spin as if it is on drugs!!! 3Dmark 05 has passed without a crash also. (6913 but my cpu doesn`t help does it?) Until now I have had fastwrites and write combining off. I installed these with fastwrites ON and write combining ON. I`m not counting my chickens yet but all seems well. Just would like to say thanks, I was soo used to multiple detonator releases and now find a bit of a rut with official ATI drivers. Stu
