ATI Hotkey Poller functionality
I have some questions about the ATI Hotkey Poller.
They on the service's function to change the gpu speeds. 1. Does it work only when CCC is installed? 2. Does it work only with cards supporting Overdrive?

hi iron2000
1. no, its part of the display driver component 2. no, but overdrive works only with cards supporting overdrive ![]() ati hotkey poller service comes with every ati driver since cat 6.8 (not sure on this) so its also included in omega drivers building upon cat 6.8 and above. its a helper service for several features like overdrive, powerplay and hotkey mapping. overdrive is a dynamic overclocking function. it should help novice users to automatically overclock in save ranges without destroying their graphic card. powerplay is used for dynamically underclock your gpu in 2d mode to save battery on laptop computers. it is also used for switching off the lcd when closing the laptop. hotkey mapping, if you use the hotkey settings in the ccc. so i recommend disabling the ati hotkey poller service if you dont want to use overdrive (e.g. if you overclock with other tweakers like winclk or att), you are not using a laptop and want to save some energy and give a fuck about any strange hotkey features. there are many reports about problems with this service enabled. |
