Having Trouble getting omega drivers installed
I cant seem to get the omega drivers to install. I just got rid of my x300 for a x1650 pro. Omega worked perfect with my x300
I unstalled my old omega drivers and installed my new card, I rebooted and tried to install the newest omega drivers... Nothing. It went to the part where says omega drivers are ready to install and all the other times is promoted me to continue with unsigned drivers but this time it didnt, said they installed but they actually didnt. I rebooted agian and get a message about now ATI video board found. The ATI drivers from the ATI site work fine with no problems. I tired using drivercleaner, but when i did and try to reinstall the omega drivers I get INF error. I know all this is kinda jumbled up, and might not make sense, im just very frustrated with myself and not being able to get omega drivers to work. |

First of all, I understand exactly what you're saying, so, no need to apologize. ![]() Now, do this: Download and install any set of CATALYST Drivers PRIOR to CATALYST 7.4....if you're trying to install the latest release of Omegadrivers, that is. If you're using the previous set based on CAT 7.1s, grab any later 6.x version of drivers. Install the selecte official drivers and make sure things are working properly. Now, run the installation of the Omegadrivers again WITHOUT UNINSTALLING the set you just installed. Yes, you read that correctly! Omegadrivers do NOT have to be installed 'new and fresh' after uninstalling a previous set of drivers.....even his Readme says so. You simply have to answer YES to any prompt to overwrite existing files. Do so with every prompt. Do that "continue anyway" again, with both prompts. If, after getting this set installed you get a 'New Hardware' found prompt from Windows, you'll need to grab the WDM drivers from AMD/ATI that matches the driver version you've just installed. Good luck and report back with your success.

I have the exact same problem. I have an ATI x1650XT and the regular drivers work just fine...but every time I try to install the omega drivers, the drivers themselves never get installed over the standard ones. To answer your question, I have the newest Catalyst driver installed and did not try to uninstall it before installing the omega drivers. With my old Radeon 9800 Pro it always asked me if I wanted some files overwritten...ever since I got this card it has never asked me. Frustrating to say the least.

What brand is your ATI card? That is, what company manufactured it? It sounds as though the Hardware ID needs to be registered so that the drivers will recognize the card.

That is actually the problem, I looked at the INF and INI files and it doesn't list my device ID at all. My card is a Sapphire Radeon x1650XT and the device ID ends with 7291 (Primary) and 72B1 (Secondary). The closest one in the list is 7293 (Primary) and 72B3 (Secondary). The only way to install these drivers for me is to brute force it manually. Almost forgot, it uses the R580 version.

What you need to do is email Omegadrive and give him the particular ID information so he can include this card in his next release. Good luck! AND, yes, I've had to brute force the driver install a few times over the years, too.

Please give us the specifications of your systems....not just the video card. We need:
Motherboard Chipset CPU OS Is the PC Desktop or Laptop? And, have the BIOS and Chipset Drivers been updated?

You need to get the Hardware ID number for your card and post it and/or send Omega the information so it can be included in the upcoming sets of his drivers. If you're using CCC, just go to the Information Center, Graphics Hardware. Good luck!

Ok so everything that could go wrong has, my graphics cards is either crapping out or I did something really wrong. I have a feeling i know what the problem is now. I had this card connected with a DVI to VGA connector that ran to my monitor. Note monitor does have DVI connectors just didnt buy the cable. It was doing alot of the VGASAVE thing when I would uninstall everything. Would not let me touch any properties stuff in monitor or graphics card.
I went to safe mode and removed everything. Went back to windows and reinstalled the ATI website drivers just for trails. Installed fine, rebooted got to the login screen and just hung up, the mouse would still move so I know the system didnt lock up, but I could not select my username so I could type password, so I did ctrl+alt+del and logged in. As soon as it hit the desktop everything went black. Did this over and over and over. Everytime I would uninstall the video card drivers and try to start over I would get the VGASAVE crap. So I thought maybe this is something with the DVI to VGA connector, took out the 1650pro and put my X300 back in. Worked like a charm, even retook the newest omega drivers on the first try. So that lead me to believe it was either the graphics card its self or something in the DVI to VGA. Does this make any sense? P.S. Go ahead and laugh now but this is a dell 8400 computer 3.0GHz with HT 2GB RAM 160GB HD XP Pro SB Live 24bit sound card BIOS is dells crap think its version A09 if any of the above helps |

What Power Supply are you using? Give me not only the manufacturer, but how many Amps on the +12V rail/s?

not sure all I know is dell is like totally proprietary hardware... Dell makes it and its a 350w powersupply
not sure on the rails thing so I just copied down everything on it Made by Dell Code:
Input 100-120V ~ / 9A 50-60Hz
200-240V ~ / 4.5A 50-60Hz
Output +5V === / 27A Max -12V/1A Max
+5V(FP) === / 2A Max 3.3v/17A Max
+12V-A === / 18A Max +12V-B/18A Max
I think copied it all right if that helps any

The +12V rails (you have a dual +12V rail PSU) has a maximum of 18 Amps. When you go from the previous video card to the newer 1650, it's almost a given that the PSU isn't providing enough power to it. It's the AMPs that you want to look at when considering power for a video card and this could be the cause of all the problems you're having. To test the accuracy of this, if you can even borrow a 'regular' PSU with at least 28 Amps on the +12V rail, hook it all up with the side cover off and the PSU sitting outside the case...just for a short test period...then you'll know for sure whether the problem is the PSU's inadequacy, or if it's the video card itself. Good luck!

Hello, instead of making a new thread, I'd figure I'd jump in here and hope for a reply.
Like a lot of folks in here have stated, my card cannot be installed with the omega drivers. (HIS x1650xt AGP 8x) Is there any hope my chip will be supported down the line with a later release? I'm a big fan of the Omega drivers, used em for years on my previous 9550. Thanks! |

It's quite hopeful your card can/will be supported. The main thing is that the Hardware ID number needs to be given to Omegadriver. That should take care of it once that ID is included in the drivers. We'll hope for the best. EDIT: If you're fairly knowledgeable of how to edit ini files, you may be able to correct this problem on your own. Since you likely already extracted the Omegadrivers to the Program Files, take a look at this particular file there: C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers\v3.8.360\2KXP_INF That INF file is the one where the Hardware ID goes. Using CCC and the Information Center/Graphics Hardware, you should be able to determine what is the HW ID for your card. If you do so, place that information using the same format as Omega has used to enter all of the rest. Again, good luck.

Ah ok.
I sent an email a while back to Omega support describing the same situation, but never received a reply. So should I do the same thing, this time including the Hardware ID and the works? |
