Omegadrivers (based on Catalyst 7.4) Now Available

Those who much prefer the Omegadrivers for ATI cards, you can get the latest release now by checking out the official Omegadriver website:

Omegadrivers.net

Just do a little reading and follow the links to what you're looking for.

Cheers!

I'm getting a "Unknown Device" after installing these (as well as a "found new hardware" with each reboot). I suspect it's the T200 AVStream drivers that it's looking for as I do not see it in my Device Manager like I used to.

My card is X1950XTX.

You are correct! Omega does not include the WDM drivers so you'll need to grab the version from the AMD/ATI website that matches the version of the drivers.

I guess that's a new thing? The ones based off of 7.1 didn't give me that error... Oh well.

Thanks for the info - will grab it now!

Actually, it's not a new thing. Omega hasn't been including the WDM drivers for quite some time now. He explains it's to keep the filesize smaller for downloading from his site and the mirrors. (Likely to keep the cost of bandwidth lower.) So, let AMD/ATI handle the extra bandwidth.

However, if you follow his advice to simply install his drivers over the top of existing drivers, you'll not run into this problem.

The ones released by ATI are awful. Image Quality is down several notches as well as reliability. I don't see it a worthwhile investment for Omega to work on the 7.5s, as the 7.4s are superior.

These Omega 360 drivers, YES 360!! finally Omega has made a 360 driver set. With the release of the xbox 360 a lot of products, and shows use the 360 number. For example "Anderson Cooper 360", "Colgate 360", "yahoo 360", "panascope 360", You get the picture.

Now with this new 360 number trend comes great products, and services, and with Omega this trend does not disappoint. I did a 35 hour test on the Warcats 5.13s, and 5.11XT, and a lot of other drivers from most of the popular modders. NONE OF THEM COME CLOSE TO THESE STABLE, CONSISTANT FPS DRIVERS!!!!!.

The other drivers usually had memory leaks after a few hours of playing, which lead to drops in fps after spawns and such.

BUT WITH THESE YOU GET CONSTANT HIGH PERFORMING DRIVERS!!!

Battlefield 2, and Counter Strike Source never ran so GOOOD. GET THESE, YOU WILL BE HAPPY.

Oh, and about the hardware installation wizard that pops up at the end. Well all you need to do is restart the computer, and that will go away.

I suggest you turn on fast writes for the X850XT AGP card, cause thats what I have. It makes Battlefield 2 work, and makes Counter Strike source extremely smooth, and AMAZING THANK YOU OMEgA <3!!! U R K1NG OF DRIVERS!!!

I hope you achieve god status in World of warcraft, and become king of the server with your amazing drivers.

I take it you're happy with these drivers.

But, that hardware installation wizard will not disappear if it's looking for the WDM drivers and can't find them. People will still need to download the WDM drivers for AMD/ATI for whatever version of drivers they're using.

AND, I always used FW ON on my system...and have for years.

Datachasm is on a distinguished road

i just installed these...

my monitors native res is 1680x1050... but the display is fubar after installation. now, my text is shaky in appearance, and the screen does not fit; you have to scroll the edges of the desktop.

in the ATI control panel, under the multiple monitor setup screen (i have a laptop with an external), for the external my res says its running at 1520x1050, but at display prop/settings its says 1680x1050.

i uninstalled, ran driver cleaner, rebooted, and reinstalled; didnt help.

anyways, been using the Omegas for over a year and no problems before. for now im gonna run my desktop at 1024x768 until someone posts a tip or i decide to revert back to the last release.

I will not make a big release out of these since they are based on the Cat 7.4 and ATI already released the 7.5, which I already modded and they are in the test phase at the moment, so crossing my fingers they should be out next week.

It's been more than a month so i was wondering about the status of the new drivers?

Thanx.

Wink

Hi Omega,

The latest Cat 7.7 is a so-much improved driver in term of IQ and performance. However, it's still lag behind the beloved Omega 7.4!

Cat 7.7 is surely worth your time to omegaed it! Many of us are looking forward to it!

Cheers!

Will they work with X1950XT PCIe speed differences?

If I install these Omegas over the ATI 7.4 drivers, will they correctly handle the 2d vs 3d speed differences in the X1950XT pcie card?

Done excessive testing of different driver releases for the last few days and I'm really disappointed. Seems like driver hell is getting similar for ATI as it is with NVIDEA (at least for the 8xxx series on XP).

I tested the following drivers:

1.) ATI Catalyst 7.5
2.) ATI Catalyst 7.6
3.) ATI Catalyst 7.7
4.) NGO Catalyst 7.3
5.) Omega Catalst 7.4

1.) The Omegas are the only one which give acceptable quality on a HTPC. I checked all drivers with the HQV Benchmark DVD and the only driver passing the deinterlacer tests on VMR9 was the Omega (with overlay all others are working ok, but that's not an option for other reasons).

2.) The NGO and the Omega work correct with MediaPortal and a X1650PRO card whereas the Original 7.5, 7.6 and 7.7 where failing, causing a constant 100% CPU load on one core even when the app is beeing idle.

3.) So the world would be nearly perfect with the Omega, but I live in PAL land an the driver is missing the capability of 1080p/50Hz (60Hz works flawlessly). So is there a way to make the Omega handle 1080p/50Hz or it there a new version on the horizon which may solve the problem.

Regards,
goppi.

Hi everybody,

Been using the Omega Drivers for what feels like an eternity.
First problem ever with them - I couldn't set 1360x768 for my newly bought Samsung LCD TV (1366x768), so had to settle for 1280x768. Tried uninstalling, and then using Driver Cleaner, but the Omegas just didn't want to know.

So, I am forced to use the Catalysts (7.8), and low and behold, my LCD is now detected and 1360x768 over DVI-HDMI is possible (using it now).

In the Catalyst Control center, my TV is registered just as SAMSUNG, but the rest of the PC just lists it as a "Plug and Play" Monitor.

Do the Omega Drivers support Samsung LCD TVs (mine is the LE23R88BDX)?
If so, what am I doing wrong?

So doing a full uninstall and driver clean/cab clean is old fashioned now?

Not really old-fashioned, it's just not necessary. Even the Catalyst Team states it's not necessary to uninstall previous drivers to update drivers. Never has been.

I have a problem, can someone help. After playing the Quake wars demo and then booting up Medieval 2 the text in Medieval 2 is messed up and only restarting the computer can cure it. Is there something I can do to fix it without a restart?

Hehe if so from now on I'll be downloading the official ATI drivers because now Omega's working on them so he'll probably make them Omega-Driver quality!
