Omega Drivers 3.8.330 Radeon X800 GT TV-out problem :{

Hi all,
Long time Omega Driver user, first time posting. I'm having a strange problem with the Omega 3.8.330 Drivers. I can't seem to TV-out via S-Video with my PCI Express Radeon X800 gt. I thought this would be a hardware issue but then i found old Omega 3.8.231 drivers which I installed and TV-out works perfectly. I tried formatting and reinstalling windows but the Omega 3.8.330 Drivers just doesn’t seem to TV-out.

Under ATI Tray Tools->Display->Settings->TV Out it says "Not Connected!"

I tried going under Display Properties->Advanced->Displays->Troubleshoot and Marked the Tick Box next to "Force Detection of my TV". But it still doesn’t seem to TV-out.

When I switch to TV, makes the usual windows plug and play sound but there is no display on my television. When using the Omega 3.8.231 drivers it switches to TV Display perfectly. I would just settle with using the 3.8.231 drivers but I seem to run in allot of game issues where Omega 3.8.330 sorts out those problems. So now I install 3.8.330 when I want to play games and install 3.8.231 when i want check DVDs on my television :{ PLZ HELp.

Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!

If I were having this problem, I'd try using the newer Omegadrivers but then NOT install ATT that comes with it. Rather, extract the ATT that comes with the earlier driver and install it with the newer one. See if that works.

If not, we'll see if something else does.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response Dyre! Seemed like a good idea and I tried this immediately. Unfortunately the problem still haunts me to this moment, seems like it's a driver issue more than ATT one. I installed 3.8.231 then proceeded to install 3.8.330(Driver Only), but i still can't seem to TV-out. There must something that can be done. I tried back tracking more recent previous versions of the Omega Drivers like 3.8.291 ect. But they as well have the same no TV-out response.

This installing and uninstalling drivers to do two basic functions with my graphics card (Playing games and watching DVDs) is killing me. All the restarting and conflict errors (from backtracking drivers) thats pilling up cause me to reinstall windows on a daily basis. Sigh… please someone help I'm out of ideas. Maybe I'm overlooking something in the newer drivers that’s not allowing me to TV-out. It just doesn’t make sense that older drivers TV-out fine and the newer ones have problems with this.

Well, let's start back at the basics then. Give us the rundown on your system: Motherboard, Windows version; CPU, RAM, Video card model and made by whom?

We'll go from there.

But, let me say this for your benefit: If you're installing Windows fresh on a daily basis, you're really going overboard. I've changed drivers back and forth and rarely, RARELY, install Windows afresh but maybe once every 4 - 6 months. All that's needed is to run the Uninstaller from ADD/REMOVE in the Control Panel, and delete the appropriate directories.

Reboot and let Windows detect the video card but CANCEL any attempt to install drivers. You'll get a simple VGA driver to allow you to work on the screen.

Download CCleaner from www.ccleaner.com and run the Cleaner and the Issues apps. This will clear up junk (Cleaner) and clean up the Windows Registry (Issues) and you'll have a clean system to work with again.

Now, proceed to install the drivers of your choice again.

As for why Omega's are not providing TV Out on your system, I'm at a loss right now because I haven't been able to reproduce this problem and I've used both Omega's and the NGO drivers over the years.

So, try the NGO drivers (much like Omega's and ALSO have ATT). You can get those here: www.ngohq.com

Just click the link, go up to Files and then browse down the list. NGO drivers are also available now based on even newer CATALYST drivers than are Omega's.

Good luck!
