Windows XP 7.3 Hotfix - file not found?
I saw in the Vista hotfix that STALKER CrossFire was also included, and so I went to look for an XP version of the hotfix. I found the following page, and everything looks okayL
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/d...asp?deptID=894
Unfortunately, if I click the "Catalyst 7.3 Beta Hotfix for Windows XP" link, I get a "file not found" page. I've tried it in both Firefox and Internet Explorer, so I'm guessing somehow the 7-3-hotfix_xp_dd_ccc_enu_45783.exe file is not currently on the servers. Help?

Hi there and welcome to DH!

Damn... was looking forward to higher FPS in STALKER. Actually, it wasn't at all bad at 1920x1200 relatively high detail on X1900 XT, but still a good 50-80% frame rate boost would be nice.

I was also looking for this hotfix too as it directly applies to me being a Crossfire user(not too mention I'd hoped it might give Test Drive Unlimited a much needed kick in the pants, even if I had to rename it Stalker....)

Awesome - very good improvement to performance for STALKER. Here's a quick benchmark in the Freedom base.
Without CrossFire support:
2007-04-10 13:28:50 - XR_3DA
Frames: 470 - Time: 17201ms - Avg: 27.324 - Min: 20 - Max: 37
With CrossFire support:
2007-04-10 13:46:33 - XR_3DA
Frames: 728 - Time: 16916ms - Avg: 43.036 - Min: 29 - Max: 69
System specs:
Opteron 165 @ 2.41 GHz
DDR-400 @ DDR-438 3-3-3-8-2T
Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (CrossFire as well)

I havent actually tried it with STALKER yet as Im pretty muched hooked on TDU(I was actually hoping it might give me some gains in Test Drive Unlimited as I get NOTHING out of Crossfire with it as of yet)Oh well new drivers are new drivers and no issues to report with them.

Now if only they could give the same treatment to Armed Assault and Testdrive Unlimited we would be doing something. TDU is new so that I can accept, but ArmA has been out for MONTHS and yet most users are stuck using 6.x series drivers to get any kind of performance
The BI Forums reported ATI was aware of the Handle Leak issue with ArmA but yet Terry had no clue about it
