Radeon X1950XT o/c frequencies cat7.3 / omega 3.8

Hi guys.

I really hope this is not a double post, the search didn't get results for my question.
Today i played a litte bit with the overclocking stuff and compared some settings with 3dmark 06.

now the interesting part :

catalyst 7.3: (gpu/mem)
standard settings (621/900) : 4909p
automated o/c via CCC (688/945) : 5093p

omega 3.8.330: (gpu/mem)
automated o/c via ATT (621/891) : 5220p (!?)
manual o/c via ATT (688/945) : some artefacts... black screen... freeze

now... it seems like cat7.3 can handle much more mhz than the omega driver, BUT omega runs MUCH faster with less o/c. cat settings in ATT are not possible, automated calculation stops at 621/891.
is this normal ?

Machine :

Pentium D 915 2,8ghz @ 2,97
2gig Kensington DDR2 533 ram
Asus P5VDC-X board

Sapphire Radeon X1950XT 256mb with Zalman VF900-CU heatsink and additional 120mm fan in front of it for some extra air.

all running on winxp pro sp2

System Specs

Omega drivers are tweaked for performance and imagequality. They do show improvements when it comes to performance, hence the better score.

A 9mhz underclock/overclock doesnt do that much of a diffrence, instead the optimizations from omega are then ones that are making the diffrence.
